Who Can Beat Brock?

Please, Fedor would beat the shit out of Lesnar.

I’d like to see a Mirko Cro Cop vs. Brock Lesnar fight, The problem is that Cro Cop isnt much of a grappler, nor does he have very good ground defense. As soon as Lesnar took him to the ground the fight would be over. If Cro Cop improved his grappling and ground defense and managed to make it a more standup than ground match, there is no doubt in my mind that Cro Cop could beat Lesnar.
Another intelligent post. So if CroCop was a completely different fighter, he could beat Lesnar? Where are you guys coming from. Go back to Sherdog.

Overeem would have a better chance than Crocop IMO. He is a good striker and has worked hard to improve his ground game.

Of course Lesnar is a tough fight for pretty much anyone but to say that he has KOed Mir and Randy is not strictly correct. He TKOed them. He has landed some flush shots that bowled fighters over but he doesn’t seem to have that KO striking down (yet) his GnP has improved a lot since his last fights, lets see how much his standup can improve befoe the next fight (probably 3-4 months time minimum)

I think Overeem might have a better shot than Carwin. I would love to see that fight.

Im saying that he if he were to improve his ground defense a little bit that he could beat Lesnar. I didnt say he had to get a black belt in Judo in order to beat him.

No, he’d have to improve his ground game and takedown defense astronomically to be able keep the fight standing and beat Lesnar. He’d have a kicker’s chance of catching Brock with a left head kick and KO’ing him, other than that, he’d get pummelled.

Mir is one of the best submission HW’s in the world and has very good ground defense, and Lesnar destroyed him on the ground. Cro Cop wouldn’t stand a chance once Brock took him down.

All I can say is, watch CroCop’s fight with Gonzaga. Mirko has never been that durable on the ground if he cannot get up immediately with his leg strength. Brock is the type of fighter CroCop 9/10 times CANNOT beat.

It will happen.
Brock’s stand-up is too shitty.
Somebody will catch him leading with his chin and his arms at his waist and turn his lights out.

Jim, I agree. I personally think Carwin or Gonzaga are the two fighters currently contracted with the UFC capable of just that

His camp definatly has some things to work on. Lots of wrestlers have shown a willingness to take a big shot in exchange for a TD. It seems like it would just be a matter of time in HW div that this backfires.

If he doesn’t let Mir up after the first TD, he probably doen’t take any damage. I bet he doesn’t do that again.

I think Fedor has a VERY good chance of beating Brock. If not, Carwin could be able to, and call me crazy, but I actually think someone like Kongo could give him some trouble…

If Karelin could strike…

What a silly thread. “Who can beat Brock”… Tons of guys could beat Brock. Don’t know if they will, but there are at least 6-7 heavyweights with a legitimate shot at beating him.

As for Fedor, it wouldn’t even be close at this point. Watching Brock stick his neck out and expose himself to multiple shots from Mir was cringe-worthy. When he makes that mistake against Fedor, he is going to sleep…

…the USSR would have won the cold war.

Now with the growth of reputable BJJ schools around the US, I can legitimately see 5-15 years down the road guys who are 1) Big 2) Know BJJ 3) Can strike all by the time they enter the cage for the first time. You see it in all other classes except HW.

That may never happen though, except on my xbox 360.
I wouldn’t hold my breath. The glamour sports of football and basket ball will always win out. I just finished a 5 year stint of teaching, and none of the big kids was playing anything other than football and none of the tall kids anything other than basketball.

Even if there are some kids (under 14) doing BJJ/MMA now, the ones who will grow to be big kids in HS won’t go unseen for long. One of the football coaches will see the kid in the halls, tap the kid on the shoulder, or make a phone call home, and they’ll forget all about BJJ/MMA.

They’ll be popular, have a chance with the cheerleaders and fit in well.

The kids who are genetically blessed will get college scholarships, and the same cycle will continue over and over.

This is what has hurt heavyweight boxing the last 35-40 years or so, and this is what will hurt MMA.

Crocop is done, period. Which is why BB mentioned the fountain of youth. Which is why I mentioned 2005 Crocop. He’s worn out, spent.

Forget about any fight between them. I’m a huge Crocop fan, and I’ve accepted the fact that he is no longer an elite fighter.

You should accept it as well.

When I was watching UFC 100, two guys I was watching with said the only guy that can beat Brock Lesnar is Kimbo Slice.

And they were serious.

An interesting post on Martin Rooneys site was Rolles Gracie. Martin said Rolles might fight Bobby Lashley. Plus Rolles bjj is much better than Mirs.

Maybe at a… well, I was going to make a quip about a table tennis match or something, but I can’t think of a single sport Kimbo Slice would beat Brock at.

That would be awesome. Rolles is a beast at 6’5, 240ish. I used to train under him at Renzo’s in NY. And yes, his BJJ is world class.
