Who Can Beat Brock?

This alone had to be just as good if not better entertainment than the fights that night. Did you try to play it off by not laughing and asking them why? Or were unable to control your laughter and possibly spit your beer out your nose?

Yeah I played it off and didn’t ask them, although I was holding in my laughter. We watched it at a friend of a friend’s house, and I had never met him before, so I didn’t want to disrespect someone in their own house who I don’t even know, even though they were kind enough to let us watch it at their place.

But nonetheless, it was funny and I was trying really REALLY hard not to laugh.

An interesting post on Martin Rooneys site was Rolles Gracie. Martin said Rolles might fight Bobby Lashley. Plus Rolles bjj is much better than Mirs.

That would be awesome. Rolles is a beast at 6’5, 240ish. I used to train under him at Renzo’s in NY. And yes, his BJJ is world class.

Might be an interesting fight between Rolles and Lashley, but I don’t think he’d match up well with Brock. At only 240 he’d likely get manhandled just like Mir did.

Lesnar is just too big, strong, athletic, and good at controlling position for anyone that small to really be of much of a threat. Especially since their area of expertise (grappling) is where Brock is also strongest. Someone that size is going to have to be able to outwork him, use speed on the feet to out strike him and hope eventually he’ll tire out and become vulnerable. Oh, and of course not get smashed into oblivion like Mir did in the process.

Cain Velasquez

If he takes brock down or sweeps hin (if) he should be able to control and submit brock. Lets hope he hits harder than he did agaist Kongo

Huge if. And even if he does, I don’t think he’ll be able to control and submit him. He couldn’t even submit Kongo who is nowhere near the grappler that Brock is.

What a silly thread. “Who can beat Brock”… Tons of guys could beat Brock. Don’t know if they will, but there are at least 6-7 heavyweights with a legitimate shot at beating him.

As for Fedor, it wouldn’t even be close at this point. Watching Brock stick his neck out and expose himself to multiple shots from Mir was cringe-worthy. When he makes that mistake against Fedor, he is going to sleep…[/quote]

Brock’s got a big head. Big fat country noggin. He missed a shooting star press, landed on his neck, and still got up. I think actually knocking him out could would prove difficult. Submission will and always be the best bet against Brock. Another is ref stoppage due to ground and pound.

There’s always a chance anyone can be beat, but the likelihood of that happening decreases as the skill of the figter increases. Take a look at Silva at 185lb. Could he be beat? Sure, good fighters can get lucky. But the liklihood of someone beating him at 185 is very small.

I’d like to see Brock fight a guy close to his size before making that same judgement. But so far he’s proven he can beat the top two in the UFC in Couture and Mir. Don’t give me this crap about them not being the top two…who had the coin? Who had the belts?

Right now every other HW we’re talking about besides Fedor is unproven. Carwin, Velasquez, hell Barnett got struck out by a LHW posing as HW in Cro Cop a couple years ago.

Size matters.

Well,if size matters in the way you’re saying, then why mention Barnett getting out struck by Cro Cop?? Whom you stated as being a “LHW posing as a HW??” Sounds contradictory to what you’re saying.

And how exactly is Brock surviving that shooting star press relevant to being able to withstand a hard, accurate strike??

Seriously, if he had withstood the People’s Elbow, you might have been on to something…Shooting Star Press? Amatuer hour.

This looks like it hurt:

You really need to learn the science of knockouts.

Love all the conjecture… I hate Lesnar as much as anyone but he is a legitimate MMA fighter. Mir was seriously f**ked up, not easy to do either.
Alot of the said contenders wouldn’t cut it either… Crocop, Kongo and Fedor are awesome (esp. Emelianenko)
but Brock would beat them.
Carwin and Velasquez seem the best bet. Put Machida up against him - THAT would make Lesnar look really unco-ordinated.

Wow…just wow. Looks like the squirrel found Brock’s nuts and didn’t realize it. You “hate” Lesnar, yet you give him too much credit. I don’t get it.

Big_Boss dont talk to the brotards.

lol Wow… not much to get! Lesnar acts like a dick but he can fight… good reaction from you though. Funny.
