Jim Beam is my economical choice. Maker’s Mark FTW. Met the distiller once. Also Basil Hadyn’s I am fond of.
John Powers has become my Irish of choice, but can’t go wrong with Jameson either.
Of the Scotch’s Talisker and Oban are some of my fav’s.

No disrespect intended Lanky, but I just could never see the appeal of JD. Worst whiskey out there imo.
Had Wild Turkey Rye recently, very tasty. Smooth and dangerous at 101 proof.
When I go to my cabin with friends I set a bottle of Fireball whiskey on the table and it seems to magically disappear. Great for sipping but I don’t know if you could mix it with anything.
johnny walker black… got a bottle of JW gold for xmas but have yet to crack it open… haven’t really tried too many others… i did have a bottle of glenfiddich 12 years… wasn’t as smooth as the black IMO…
i had JW red and green… but black is my staple… maker’s mark, JD, and other bourbons are too sweet IMO
Any one of these are bad ass drinks. My personal favorites are the George T. Stagg which is between 130 and 145 proof… and the Thomas H. Handy (only had one bottle of this and it is incredible.)
Just dont drink beer.

I live in PA where all liquor stores are run by the state. Whiskeys like Laphroaig and Macallan aren’t even carried in our stores and getting it shipped in is a huge pain in the ass. Proof that the damn government can’t do anything right.
