Nothing but a money grab. Disappointing, really.
I’ve been drinking some Rock Hill Farm and Elmer T. Lee recently. Both really good.
I saw you and Nards talking about Buffalo Trace - good stuff, great value considering the price. I haven’t had the white dog clear stuff, not sure I want to, haha. Clear liquor gives me the willies.
Maker’s Mark reverses decision to dilute bourbon.
While I don’t like Maker’s Mark at all, this will prove to be a good decision for them. People are still pissed at Jack Daniel’s for lowering the alcohol content from 45% to 43%, and then again to 40%. They’ll probably keep many of their loyal customers by not diluting their product.
Ancillary, but I’ve actually got some unopened 45% JD bottles on my whiskey shelf from the early 80s.

Man, I loves me some whiskey! Cheap whiskey, expensive whiskey, honey whiskey, cinnamon whiskey… I love it all. Some of my favorites:
Jim Beam Black
Jack
Old Crow ($7 for 750ml)
Wild Turkey 101
Jesse James Outlaw Whiskey
American Honey
I go through 3-4 big (750ml) bottles a month. The cheaper it is, the faster I drink it. :)
Personally don’t see the appeal of honey whiskey. I had one bottle, tasted OK until I got about halfway through now I can’t tolerate the stuff. Some cheap whiskey’s are definitely great through.
I don’t like when people call it rotgut…I mean if it’s not actually in any way worse for you than any other booze then what’s the problem?

Never heard that term before.
I’ve read that bourbon, red wine and anything carbonated results in worse hangovers. But I personally find I get worse hangovers from alcohol my body isn’t used to drinking, so I mainly stick with bourbon these days.
Booker’s is nice, I do splash it with a bit of water, though. Anything over about 110 proof is when I start splashing a bit of water. Anything below that and I’ll usually drink it neat.
Some exceptions apply, but that’s my general rule of thumb.

Pro tip: Don’t drink the whole bottle in one night.

That’s very cool. Probably worth an Ebay fortune.
My Grammy used to work on a cruise ship and a couple times a year the Captain would let them raid the liquor closet. She’s got cases of stuff that is like 30 years old that’s never been touched. I tried some of the wine she had…it went bad, haha.
And luckily JD is not a cork bottle, we tried opening a few of the corked bottles and they had all dry rotted.

Yeah I don’t. Haven’t since I was about 20 and that was well before I tried the honey whiskey. lol
