Whiskey!

I was in Scotland 2 years ago and I could not make myself buy any whiskey there because of how expensive it was.

Even the cheap Co-Op brand, basically the supermarket’s cheap no-name brand was about $30 US.

I bought my cousin a bottle of Jack Daniels for taking me up to the Highlands one day and that 700ml bottle was about $45 US![/quote]

all alcohol is going to get dearer over here as the Gov is about to introduce a minimum price per unit of alcohol. So a 30 unit bottle of whisky will cost at least 30 x the min unit price. A 3 unit bottle of beer will cost at least 3 x the min unit cost etc.

Whiskey isn’t worth being snobby over imo. A bottle of Jim Beam and some shotguns, pick ups and bros have led to many a wild night however.

I love Buffalo Trace and have decided that will be the only whiskey I buy in the future.

What’s a whiskey rock?

Silly me, I can google…wow…what a neat idea…Brilliant!

I like Bookers, which is also strong. I like that because it’s sort of like trying whiskey for the first time again. I like the kick.

That stuff’s great. I also like Russell’s Reserve Rye 6 yr.

I’m really getting into rye whiskeys andI’m headed to the upscale Liberty Bar in Seattle after the VP Debate. Among many other spirits, beers and wines they offer this selection of ryes.

Sazerac 18 is excellent.

All I know is that if you get a chance to try Pappy Van Winkles you do it.

I’ve never had it but I’ve heard enough good things to know that if I could have any Bourbon I want, ask for that.

If you have the spare cash, and if you can find it, then get a bottle of this year’s 23 year old Pappy Van Winkle. It’s the last batch from the Stitzel-Weller distillery, which closed in 1992. Next year’s batch will come from Buffalo Trace distillery.

It’s sold out in Louisville. Not cheap. Easily over $200 US.

That sounds about right. Very expensive. Yet it sells out. It’s probably the bourbon equivalent (in quality) of Johnny Walker Blue.

I would highly recommend any Canadian whisky fans give this a try.

There are a few variants - a copper pot variety and a premium select one. All are excellent, and surprisingly inexpensive. Distilled in Grimsby, Ontario.

I usually only stick to single malts but will be drinking this on a regular basis from now on
