You have the chance I would die for. You owe it to yourself and us to go their. The fucking mecca of strength in the USA and you leave because your the weakest one there? Everyone who walks in Westside the first day is the weakest one there. They will make you stronger faster than anyone else.
Dont you get it? ALL WORKOUT PROGRAMS SUCK. It is the enviroment and the experience level of the people ou train with that make the difference.
Not only are you going to go back, but you are going to document everyday you spend in the gym there and everything Louie and the other lifters teach you, and your gonna post it on this goddamn forum for all of us to learn from…
And then your gonna get a fucking Westside pittbull tatto on your fuckin back the first time you squat 700lbs.

Make sure you bring a tape recorder so you catch it all…
i dont want to overanalyze things.i think that any athlete given choice to train in westside barbell or in some olympic weightlifting gym, should choose westside.its because atmosfere there and intensity.and having mad louie on your case.you would get stronger, bigger and more explosive in less time and develop mental toughness.

I’m pretty sure Westside-Barbell isnt open to the public so you guys can stop believing this kids lies.
I agree, and I call troll.
Wasn’t it in a recent interview with Dave Tate that he mentioned that you have to interview to go there? [/quote]
I was under the same impression. I think you have to be “accepted” by Louie to train there. It is my understanding that he is very strict about the clientele to insure that only highly motivated, hard working lifters are allowed to train there. By doing this he maintains a very hardcore atmosphere and does not allow it to be eroded by slackers and “tourists”.
Ok, I will probably be going back to westside. The thing is, that I probably won’t be working with louie. When he is at the club, so is most of he’s powerlifters, and I don’t really want to interfer with there training, as that is there sport. I have talked with a powerlifter that train’s at westside that train’s athletes at the club, when all the other powerlifters are gone. So I will most likely do that.
The reason I brought this discussion back up though is, because I do have a few question’s about the whole westside, and olympic lifting discussion.
You guy’s have already told me which one you would recommend out of the westside, and the olympic lifting place. The thing is. The olympic lifting club, also has a good reputation as well.
Anyways, what I have been reading about the discussion between westside, and olympic lifting is that westside basically uses a split training routine. Training upper, and lower body on different days. Speed day is also involved. Olympic lifting trains all the muscle groups at the same time, making olympic lifting more efficient in training athletes as the lift makes the athlete use his whole body in an explosive manner. It lets the athlete know how to use his whole body in an explosive manner as well. Like you would use on the football field. Even though westside has those speed days. The olympic lifting movments like the snatch, and jerk are still more explosive than those lifts.
Also that training the olympic lifts makes you a better athlete overall, by the fact that you have to lift a weight from the ground, and over your head in a explosive manner with heavy weight. Olympic squat, or full squat’s build the athletes strength in the full range of motion in the movment. Not like the powerlifting squat. Which it is all about leverage, and you go half way down, and back up.
I mean the list goes on about both of them. Just was wanting to know what some of you think about training athletes with the two different styles of lifting.
I don’t think anyone here knows enough about the olympic club to be able to tell you much. The main thing is that even with just a higher basis of stregnth, you increase your potential for creating power explosion and such. I would recomend training at westside, and asking the guy who does athletes for his recomendations of incorporating plyos into your training in order to keep your reflexive ability up with your stregnth.
Getting strong at westside along with getting fast and explosive will make you a freaky athlete. I think it offers much more than an olympic lifting program would.
