Which of These 2 Splits is Best?

one body part 5 day split or 4 day upper lower split? i just want to purely look good with hypertrophy as a priority and strength least of my worries. i already done 5x5, ss, and all that in the past. i just want to know which is best and which will get me the fastest muscle. i will lift purely in the 8-12 range.

Best answer- Whatever feels and works best with you. You say youve done several different programs in the past. Which felt better for you? If the answer is ‘none of them felt good’ and you didnt really see growth, then you’re probably focusing on the wrong aspect of it all. Let me break it down:

If aesthetics is your primary concern as your headline suggests, diet is going to be your main factor.
If hypertrophy is your primary concern as you mention it in your paragraph, diet is going to be your main factor.
If Aesthetics AND hypertrophy are what you want then…Diet is going to be your main factor.

Pushing the muscle to growth can happen in any number of ways. Ensuring adequate consumption of energy and components to rebuild those movers AND/OR losing the body fat to show pleasing aesthetics are going to revolve moreso around how and what you eat.

People have gotten good results with both methods.

And… … … what type of training did you see the best results with?

There is no best program, period.

As for getting “the fastest muscle”, what’s the rush? Do you have a contest or photo shoot in three months? Also, do you have your nutrition planned out?

I’m guessing that’s the rep range that’s given you the best results in the past, correct?

its no rush but i just wanna look better at a faster rate as a natty, sp both are good? whats better for achieving hypertrophy at a faster rate though?

There is no universal best. Everyone’s body is different, so you need to find out what works best for you.

I was doing a 5 day split which I enjoyed.

I just switched it to a 3 day split (with one day off) so I’m hitting the muscles almost twice a week. It is working very well for me.

Try a 5 day split for a couple of months, see how it works. Try a 4 day split for a couple of months and compare.

Even if you do end up taking gear, there is no way to get big fast. This is not an activity that provides instant gratification. Fast is measured in 6 month increments as a beginner and in year long increments as you get more advanced.

Good point about diet/food intake. Any routine will work provided you put in the consistency in both the kitchen & weight room. As far as the OP’s routines… I like a 4 or 5 day split personally, but hitting each BP twice per week. The fun part about this life style is making your own split and playing around until you find what works best for you.

How is your 3 day split? I would like to know for something else to have in mind

My 3 day split is:

Day 1: Legs
Day 2: Chest/Back
Day 3: Shoulders/arms

It is not a conventional 3 day split, nor am I a veteran to be trusted to create programs for other people. It does, however, work well for me. I like working chest and back on the same day, and I like putting legs first because I am freshest and can push myself hardest on Day 1. A more conventional 3 day split would be:

Day 1: Push
Day 2: Pull
Day 3: Legs

Regardless, I like the increased frequency of a 3 day split. I find my body responds better to higher training frequency. Your mileage may very.

Your profile says you’ve been lifting for 5 years. That’s a decent amount of time to have learned how your body responds to different training methods. What progress have you seen in all that time?

Also, and this is kind of an important question, how old are you?

Hey btw CC awesome article on here today. Best one I’ve seen in a while.
