Why?
Because from what I understand of his situation, this is going to be his duty weapon, and guys fresh out of the academy aren’t put on undercover details.

How then?

Seriously? Who are you? A CBP agent? Why does it matter to you? Are you going to give me some advice on guns or just join the giant douchebag, in posts above, in his bathtub of imbecility?
Never occurred to some americans that British, French, German and some other European citizens could come to your country without the need of a visa? Bunch of ignorant dumbasses. Too busy worrying about Mexicans on their borders. Lol.
But, hey, here’s a clue: I’m an entrepreneur, I’ve invested hundreds of thousand in businesses in your country. What do I get in return???
Hmmm… now, let’s see…what gun shall I buy to protect myself?
You’re absolutely right, it matters to me not at all.

The H&K USP Match was what Lara Croft used, so that response was part in jest.
But since it sounds like you have the budget for it, I do think you ought to take a look at some of the H&K lineup. They have a good recoil management system [for better follow-up shots] that you don’t get with many other cheaper (price-wise) handguns. From what I understand, but I don’t have the experience to say, they’re very reliable and don’t have the feed issues that some of other options have.
The USP Tactical is probably the favorite handgun I’ve shot… but it’s big, and takes awhile before it feels “comfortable” in your hand, and looks blocky and dated.
And, also just want to reiterate the need for basic handgun instruction.
Is that the one where they ‘curved’ the bullets?
Na… That was “Wanted”
So, what’s the name of that gun Angelina used to shoot the curved bullet with the ‘‘Fuck you’’ in Wanted?
A .22 revolver works very nicely for certain jobs. Or so I’ve heard.
If you get a 22, get a 22 magnum, unless you are just protecting yourself from squirrels.
x2. My middle finger has more stopping power than a .22
Bovine Scatology. 22LR to the brain is deadly. CCI’s 22 long’s still penetrate well and are subsonic. Ruff was referencing drug based assassinations in the SW.

Pretty sure the Mafia has know this little trick for a long time, and the current drug lords learned it from them.
Murder, mayhem, violence, avarice, and insanity are acutely part of the human condition. Maybe they had a moment of cultural exchange or possibly it’s a fine example of criminal convergent evolution

haha. I just figured they worked together and discussed it over coffee one morning.

OK.
I would’ve thought that a choice of duty weapon might be restricted to agency policy but I surely don’t know the answer to that in this situation.
Even then I think it’s somewhat common for a concealed backup gun to be carried or at the very least during off duty.
It is, and most officers that I know aren’t too worried about keeping it concealed the way a non-leo is. They’ll put their badge next to it, and no one thinks a thing of it.
Some agencies will give their personnel a limited choice of what they want to carry, others will let them carry whatever they want, provided they can qualify with it, and some have a single sidearm allowed.
Most agencies that authorize the Glock for duty carry also authorize the sub-compact versions for off-duty or back up carry.

Chambered in .38/.357 but it does not cycle the .357 well had to send it back for some smithing. If I had to do it over I would have went Henry. This is just a fun shoot. shits and giggles and cool zombie hunts.

Why?
I assume it will vary from agency to agency, but why?
Comes down to.the size of.the department, and the whims of the beauracracy.
If I recall, NYPD and LAPD only authorize Glocks, except.for small, specialized units.
In departments that large, it makes maintenance and equipment issuing a lot easier. Also, the thinking is that of they’re ever in a situation where multiple officers are involved, they can share mags and ammo as need be.
Smaller agencies tend to be a lot more liberal with this.
Our local pds previous chief, for.reasons known only to himself, allowed only S&Ws and Berettas. The new guy let’s them carry whatever they want to, provided they can qualify with it.

Have to pick between Glock, Smith & Wesson, or Springfield.
Glock: G17 (Gen 3 or 4), G19 (Gen 3 or 4)
Smith & Wesson: M&P 9, M&P 9L, M&P 9C
Springfield: XD 9 Service, XD9 Tactical, XDm 9 Standard
I only got to hold the G17, G19, and XDm 9. I liked the feel of the XDm 9 and G17 the most, didn’t like the weight of the G19 so much. I’m a big guy with big hands so there’s that. The problem is the gun store I’m looking at right now is out of G17’s and I’m gonna need them soon.
Springfield XD9 tac if this is what you’re limited to. I really love my Kimber 1911 TLE .45 ACP with night sights. It would fill your big meaty hands nicely too.

oooo kimber’s are a sexy bunch o guns…That’s one of my dream handguns right thur

Ruff’s reference went over my head.
Anything to the brain is deadly but shooting at 10 feet in a range is different than in real life with your heart pumping. a 22 has very limited stopping power.
One of the reasons I love the Glock 19 so much is the avaiability of 9mm ammo and the staggard clip that hold 17 + 1 in the chamber. Most of us without combat training or experience will resort to pray and spray if we need to actually use the gun and in that event 18 hollow tips will take down anything from a meth head to a small zombie hoard.
Count to 18 out loud. Thats how many tries you get, not to mention if you have a secondary clip loaded. This is why I dont like revolvers.

You made me put google to work on that. (sidenote: Who knew that there was an internet movie firearms databse? Awesome)
I knew it was a 1911 but not what model. But it is a Safari Arms Matchmaster 1911 customized with a Wilson extended mag and Parish compensator (the cool thing that makes the barrel look longer).
