I know a lot of T-Men are avid shooters.
I am considering the purchase of a Glock, the Model 19. Primary use will be CCW and occasional IDPA matches.
Normally carry a SW5906 and also shoot IDPA with it. I borrowed a Glock 19 for a match yesterday and was impressed with the speed and accuracy of the pistol.
Any thoughts on the Glock19 from those who own one?

I have the 19 and 23. They are both great guns especially for the price. nothing beats the 1911 45 caliber in my book, but you need to drop a total of 2000$ to get them perfect.
The glock is great out of the box. i would recommend cor bon ammo for it. They have the most ballistic energy per bullet size, at least what I’ve seen.
I have a 19 and I love it. very reliable, solid piece. comfortable and yet powerful at the same time. not to mention accurate.
Glocks have been know to have some problems; suddenly going full auto, firing when dropped. I prefer double single action, instead of single action. I’ve shoot all sorts of Glocks but I love my sig p226 better. I think 1911’s are fantastic as well. On the plus side, Glocks last longer than most other pistols.
I used to have a 17 and now have a 17C, both of which being slightly larger versions of the 19. They have a bit of a snap on the recoil due to the weight difference between the lower frame and slide, but it’s not that big of a deal.
Accuracy is good, and the light weight and durability would make it a nice option for CC. If you have smaller hands, another good option in 9mm would be the glock 26.
I bought the trigger springs and connectors to shave the pull down to 3ish#, but for CC that may not be the best idea.

Love Cor-Bon. I carry the 124gr. 9mm+P It’s a zippy load.
I carry one on duty and I love it. I have shot 3 out of 5 perfect scores on our qualifying. I also like the speed that I can rip off my 18 rounds. I getting ready to get swapped over to an H&K P2000. I am considering getting a 19 for myself. I also have a Ruger P-89 S&W 40. It’s a nice one, but I’m not a fan of the trigger at all. Long pull.

I use the 115 gr +p in 9 and the 135 gr
in the 40. the 40 is a wicked load, clocking in at around 1300 fps. It was the first load I saw in an autoloader that aproximated the 125 gr jhp 357 load.

The best gun I have ever shot is the now not made H&K P7M8. It had a low bore axis and the grouping on rapid fire was smaller than anything other gun I have tried. with me shooting , I mean.
I have a 23 and I absolutely love it!

No semi-automatic handgun can “suddenly go full-auto,” nor will a Glock fire when dropped. That’s the whole point of the safe-action design, and why you either love it or hate it: it goes off when you pull the trigger, without fail. If you don’t pull the trigger, though, it won’t fire. I/0.
For the price, Glocks absolutely cannot be beaten by anything. Spend a little extra money on them, and they can’t be beaten by anything period (except perhaps a really high end HK such as the Mark 23), discounting personal preferences.
Another vote here for Cor-bon +p 9s. That’s probably the only good load for the 9mm.
I fired my buddies glock quite a bit before I went out and bought a pistol. I HATED it. The sights are silly and distracting and it feels atrocious in my hand. The mags are also a pain in the ass to load.
Instead I bought a beretta 96 which turned out to be a very solid and reliable pistol. I like it, but I LOVE my girl’s XD40. If you like glocks, I implore you to at least try the XD. It’s a much better gun. It’s like a glock, only it doesn’t suck. The sights align perfectly in your hand naturally and it just feels right. It’s every bit as rugged and reliable as a glock to boot.
Anyshit, just my take on it. My next pistol will definitely be another Springfield XD.

Actually, I threw down $769 on my Colt 1911, which came slightly customized out of the box, and am very satisfied with it. I will spend another $50 on it sooner or later for Hogue grips and a longer slide release, but that’s it.

I’ve talked to a gun store/ indoor range owner that has actually seen this before, I’m sure the chances are one in a million though. I still prefer my sig, but the cost is higher.
My uncle has the same one (p226) with hogue grips (gotta get those) A friend whose a cop has the 40cal and loves it.
Glocks aren’t so bad and there very affordable. I’ve shoot a bunch of them but I do better with other some brands like the 1911. Its probably my technique or my hands. I don’t know for sure. The only one I can’t stand is the 10mm. For some reason I can’t hit a barn door with that thing. I think the handles too big.

Kind of funny how people either completely love or completely hate glocks. Which mags did he have? I agree the 10 round mags are a completele pain, but the 17 round mags load very easily IMO.
I agree with trying out the XD series if interested in the glock. I haven’t owned/shot one, but they seem to get nothing but rave reviews from people who have.
And for the full auto discussion, there’s a remote chance any semi auto pistol will go full auto if it gets hot enough. I was at a range where a guy had a Kimber .45 ACP go full auto. It’s never happened to any of my Glocks.

I am very much with you on this. I have shot probably 8 models of the Glock and I own 1(Model 36).
I am not a fan of Glocks. The factory trigger sucks, the factory sights suck, the magazines suck and I had a ton of problems with the recoil spring when I bought the thing and Glock customer service sucked.
On the other hand, I am enamored of the Springfield XD like I cant even tell you.
Fits my hand perfect, ergonomics are very good and I like the feel of the factory trigger. also, it is quite a bargain. One will probably find its way into my safe soon.
I also cant say enough good things about the H&K USP.
Also have heard many good things about the S&W M&P. I think the .45 cal model just came out. I have not shot the M&P yet, but the buzz is huge.

I feel for you . On SWAT here in MPLS we had to carry HK USP 45, terrible gun, funky trigger pull, double fed ligts were moreexpensive and would driop off the gun during rapid fire, decocking Sig now
Yes Glocks can go full auto had a G 45 do it sear wears down, all in all I like better than my issued HK USP 45
