It was a joke. Due to their cheapness, lack of dropped shell casing, and difficulty tracking the bullet, .22 revolvers are the choice for professional drug killers here in the desert southwest.

Just walk up and a .22 lr point blank to the neck and run.

So as your first lesson on police work and you come across a hit like that you know you are not dealing with an amateur.
Plus it is actually very lethal at close range. Enough velocity to enter the skull, not enough to exit so it gets in there and pinballs around turning the brain to mush. Very effective.
I’ve shot plenty of critters with a 22LR. It does the job!

Seriously? Who are you? A CBP agent? Why does it matter to you? Are you going to give me some advice on guns or just join the giant douchebag, in posts above, in his bathtub of imbecility?

Never occurred to some americans that British, French, German and some other European citizens could come to your country without the need of a visa? Bunch of ignorant dumbasses. Too busy worrying about Mexicans on their borders. Lol.

But, hey, here’s a clue: I’m an entrepreneur, I’ve invested hundreds of thousand in businesses in your country. What do I get in return???

Hmmm… now, let’s see…what gun shall I buy to protect myself?

Have to pick between Glock, Smith & Wesson, or Springfield.

Glock: G17 (Gen 3 or 4), G19 (Gen 3 or 4)

Smith & Wesson: M&P 9, M&P 9L, M&P 9C

Springfield: XD 9 Service, XD9 Tactical, XDm 9 Standard

I only got to hold the G17, G19, and XDm 9. I liked the feel of the XDm 9 and G17 the most, didn’t like the weight of the G19 so much. I’m a big guy with big hands so there’s that. The problem is the gun store I’m looking at right now is out of G17’s and I’m gonna need them soon.
Based on what you said, I would go with the M&P9 or the XDM, both really nice. The XDM is going to be the more accurate of the 2. The feel of the Smith may be more to your liking. It’s really subjective. All the above mentioned pistols are top notch, you won’t go wrong with any of them. So go with what feels best to you.

Big hands? Nothing wrong with a proper .45

Please advise. What kind of gun will fit a crazy bitch like DarkNinjaa?
If you are inexperienced and going to carry, I would suggest a revolver over a semi. Less shit going on, less problems, no mags to worry about, simple to clear, etc.

You can get the .357 that takes 38 special. Both will do what you need it to, and you can go to the range with both types of ammo. Ammo sucks to find so it double your chance of finding it.
Revolvers are great, I love them, but if you are not experienced, don’t get one with less than a 4" barrel. Also, go with a .357 because you have more ammo versatility and you can run the big boys if you want to, or you can run 38 special.
Keep in mind with revolvers you are looking at 12-15 lbs. trigger pulls in DA. You have to practice a lot to keep on target pulling through a 12 lbs trigger pull. Of course in SA it’s a 2 lbs trigger pull, but if you are in a self defense posture, you’re not likely to be pulling the hammer back.

And DON’T get a scandium frame or some super light magnum revolver, you need weight to handle that recoil.

When buying a handgun, there are 5 points to consider.

 1. Reliability
 2. Reliablity
 3. Reliability
 4. How it fits your hand
 5. How well you can control the recoil

Most modern pistols have few issues with reliability, so go with what fits your hand the best.
If you’re shooting 9mm, then recoil management should be fairly easy to master.

I would put how well you shoot it as #2.

I will not go anywhere at gunpoint. If the bad guy wants me to go somewhere else, it’s because he will be able to do something to me there that he is unwilling or unable to do to me right here, right now. Therefore no matter how bad the tactical situation seems, right here, right now is the absolute best chance to fight back I will ever have and I intend to use it.

I will not be tied up. If the bad guy wants to tie me up, it is because he wants to do things to me that I would be able to prevent if I were not tied up. Therefore, I will resist while I am still able to do so.

I will not kneel. No one is going to execute me. If I die, I’ll die fighting.

If someone tries to take one of my children, I will fight even at the risk of my child being killed in the resultant firefight. I plan this not because I have positive assurance that I would be successful, but because I would not be able to live with myself if I simply “allowed” my child to be taken, brutalized, and his body perhaps never found. I’d rather watch him die in front of me. (Yes, that’s harsh…but given those two options and only those two, which would you choose?)

I like this.

Oh! Iknow! You get a Master card!

Get it? Master card?

Not in your list I understand but I like the Sig Sauer P226.

I would also add, ease of carry at the end if it is a concealed carry weapon. The most accurate gun in the world isn’t worth much to you if its at home in the safe when you need it. I invested in a small snub revolver just because its so easy to stick in a pocket holster or the like so when making short runs or dressed down trips you are more likely to actually take it with you. The super compact .380 ACP’s like the ones from Ruger or Sig fit this bill as well

The H&K USP Match was what Lara Croft used, so that response was part in jest.

But since it sounds like you have the budget for it, I do think you ought to take a look at some of the H&K lineup. They have a good recoil management system [for better follow-up shots] that you don’t get with many other cheaper (price-wise) handguns. From what I understand, but I don’t have the experience to say, they’re very reliable and don’t have the feed issues that some of other options have.

The USP Tactical is probably the favorite handgun I’ve shot… but it’s big, and takes awhile before it feels “comfortable” in your hand, and looks blocky and dated.

And, also just want to reiterate the need for basic handgun instruction.

If he’s getting it for leo work, than concealment is a moot point.

It could be a secondary weapon. But I was actually still addressing a slightly derailed conversation that Darkninja started.

If you get a 22, get a 22 magnum, unless you are just protecting yourself from squirrels.

Is that the one where they ‘curved’ the bullets?

The hell with that buy a Mare’s Leg and get a Cochiese leather holster for it. I picked up the Rossi but if I had to do it again I would get the Henry version (just a smoother action). This is again for DN’s world War Z carry needs

I have a Glock 19. Cant say enough good things about it.
