Where is Everyone?

Yeah, I’ve been following the sport of CF for a couple years now, and currently train at a CF box (during their open gym hours - frankly, they just have nicer equipment and a higher tolerance for people squatting and deadlifting heavy than any other gym around here).

I really like some things that CF has done and think they have the right idea, but wish they could use a little more sense in programming their workouts. With that said, CF has been a huge boon for the sport of weightlifting in the US. A lot more people are now introduced to the O lifts, and it seems that we get a decent number of “I started out doing CrossFit, then switched to full time weightlifting” people.

@drewc64: apologies if you’ve already discussed this somewhere in your log, but have you lifted / are you planning to lift in the American Open series? For now I’m still building my strength with mostly squats and deadlifts, but weightlifting is probably the strength sport which I feel most suits me, and it’s possible that someday I, too, will make the switch to full weightlifting.

No argument that CF fueled the OL resurgence!

I may do the AO series in Michigan. It is the closest one to me. That is if I am lifting well. I haven’t competed in a year or so, I am not sure if each meet needs a qualifier or qualifying calendar was year prior to first AO meet.
