What is this belt you speak of? Are there magical powers in the belt?
If holding your pants up is considered a magical power, the belt surely is magical ![]()

“The Belt”.
I only use it when doing standing shoulder presses and the weight is in the triples range or around 200. I find that on or about the fifth set I start getting sloppy. Sloppy and standing military = injury so I dust the fucker off and buckle up.
For the rest I agree with the majority…used on heavy squats…singles.
How somebody can wear one doing bent over rows has always been a mystery.
It totally squishes the shit out of me.
Straight back and tight stomach and the belt is just a hindrance.
Never.
Are you going to do a powerlifting or strongman contest? If so, learn how to use it. Otherwise, just strengthen your abs and lower back.

I guess, I don’t wear one, not even for maxing out, I think it’s my way of protesting against the jokers who wear belt and gloves for curling…oh wait, I forgot to mention the baggy gennie pants…lol
