I haven’t trained my abs (isolation exercises) in over a month! I am tentative when it comes to putting it BACK into my reg because I always feel like whenever I try to with my own knowledge, it only hinders my training. For example, I feel like I will not be par on deadlifts or heavy squats if I train abs a day or two before.
Just looking for an idea on what a good day for ab training would be in regard to a typical strongman reg. What do you guys do?
I trained it heavy every workout for awhile to bring up my core strength and my yoke has improved a ton. it was a weakness so I hammered it. in general train it heavy after squat and/or deadlift day

I recently started training core again to bring up my overhead strength, since my long torso is a limiting factor for that. I’ve been keeping the abs day after deadlifting and overheads in the weekly schedule. Also make sure that it won’t interfere with squats. Basically the movements the require a lot of core bracing will be affected by sore abs, so make sure you have at least 2 to 3 days between the core training and your next squat, deadlift, or overhead day.
I train mostly bodyweight recently, but I do leg raises and lots of planks just about whenever I train. Mostly for strength, so under a minute for each set. Usually about 3 sets.
When I was doing Strongman I did abs twice a week, one day heavy isometric and one day to build muscle. Abs catch up pretty quick IMO.
