Couldn’t find the 5’s or 2.5’s again. Rounded up 5 pounds for easy loading. I was feeling pretty good before starting, then nearing the last few rounds of the assistance I felt like a dying battery.
Short conditioning session, popular one.
8 Rounds, with a 45# sandbag
8 Front squats, 20M bag carry
Even rounds were front rack carry, odd rounds were shoulder (back rack?) carry.
Did this with no breaks, had to squeeze it in before work.
I almost forgot to share again this week, meal prep:
Ginger/soy ground beef
Teriyaki Chicken w/ asian cucumber salad
Chicken salsa verde bowls
I don’t know how cheap your ass is, but Amazon has some on sale right now. I finally ordered the 150lb myself yesterday. And I’m probably cheaper than you.
That is very tempting. Looks like I’ll be parting with some money this weekend. I assume it’s better to go heavier than you think you need and take out weights as needed?
I guess I am wondering if it’s worth me getting the 80 (it’s cheaper than the 60), if I’ll ever work up to it? That would be half my body weight. Or go for the 40.
If you were buying adjustable dumbbells and one set had a 40lb cap and the other set had an 80lb cap - would you stick with the 40lbs just because it’s good for most of what you need it for now?
IMO, 80lb all the way. The 150 if you anticipate making this a regular part of your regimen, but that’s just me.
I would really love to see how you folks plan to get the 150lb vest onto your bodies, haha. The 80lber is enough of a circus act for me.
@unicornsandrainbows How tall are you? I’m 5’9 with a short torso and the 80lber hits me in the hips when I wear it. You can see it “in action” here
It works for walking, but more explosive stuff would be annoying. And even with walking, I have to sort out what is going to be in what pocket BEFORE I put it on, because it will often slide over the pockets and render the stuff non-accessible.
It’s what I’m getting at: pressing 80lbs over my head to wear on my body is a challenge for me, haha. I’d love to see the strategy for 150. I feel like you’re need a squire like a knight to help you adorn your armor.
I’ll have to knight my husband for this. He is way taller than me, it will be like having a crane.
I am 5’4". Long torso, short legs. I see what you mean, more adjustment the more you move. Diamentions say the vest is just under 15" long (for the 80). I’ll have to measure my torso when I get home and see where it’s going to hit.
But yeah, if you wanna go full Walrus training, it might not be the best. I remember weighted squats kinda sucked with it because of that. But it’s still a rugged piece of equipment.
CAP was a NIGHTMARE to deal with shipping wise. First time, they only sent me the sandbags: no vest. It took a month before they responded to my e-mails, at which point I had refunded the charge with my credit card company and then tried ONE MORE TIME to order from them.
The, they sent me 2 vests.
But part of that was dealing with them in the middle of COVID. They had no manning at all. Things might be better now.
I love it. The 50# threshold is perfect - too much for walking but great for at home Bulgarian Split Squats. It’s super easy to add/remove the weights and it’s “comfortable”?? lol
Thank you all for your vest suggestions! I went with the 80# Cap, Amazon says it should be here Thursday!
I’m a couple days behind, this was Friday: 5/3/1 Hardgainer, W3, D4
Box Jumps
Band Pull Aparts
Press
5 x 70
5 x 80
5 x 85
10 x 5 x 70
DB flat bench
4 x 15 x 35
Inverted Rows
3 x 20
Cycle one is complete! Everything is challenging, but not crushing. Feeling good to increase weights.
New TM’s:
Squat: 210
Bench: 135
Deadlift: 210
Press: 95
Last night’s meal prep:
Cheeseburger Soup
Pizza Pasta (no idea where that missing section went)
Korean Bulgogi Bowls
Pork Stirfry
Greek Chicken Bowls
Ended up doing most of the assistance work before the squats, waiting for a rack to free up. Not sure if that effected the squat, it all felt heavy, but I made it through.
Band Assisted Pull ups
50 total, many sets x as many reps as I could handle
Sled Pull
5 x 4 mins
Went to the gym during my lunch break instead of before work. Was a little less busy, made the sled work easier. I like the sled, so this isn’t its fault, but I am starting to dislike the sled work at my gym. It’s a game of ring around the roses with benches, racks, rowers and people. Bench still feels easy. Just cranking it out.
