Literally on the exact same path up until “from PT” lol.
Good luck, I’m right there with you.

It seems like it, from what I have read in your log. Pursuit of a new career is always a bit consuming. But man, I’d like to be trying to decide what to do with training, while having a six pack. You have it dialed in.
Well, you don’t even need to train to have a 6 pack, just eat right. And in my case - find the right lighting too ![]()
I worked hard and have some good genetics + gear to thank for the muscles, though i certainly wish i felt as dialed in as i look. Im still a hot mess, i just wear it well.
IMO you should do whatever training you like while getting acclimated with schooling, and adjust your diet to match your physique goals. The only thing keeping me from my physique goals has always been my diet, which is not as time consuming as training. Idk how much protein you’re getting in, but I’d wager if you increased it - you’d be making progress without feeling like you’re in a deficit. No macros are “free” in regards to calories, but protein is close to it.
I like this a lot. I beat myself up way too much on not being as fit as I want to be. Then at the end of the way when I am mentally and emotionally exhausted, and I wonder why. Between work and school so much energy is being used, even though I wasn’t picking up a weight.
I have no doubt. I have not been counting macros for a while, so I can’t say where I am at on protein intake. I could probably use more. I have been focusing more on protein lately, larger meat servings with meals, high-protein snacks, and occasionally a protein shake. I feel like I am eating more, less hungry, and the scale is holding steady so far.
One of Dan Johns rules, eat more protein
I ordered a 1/4 cow today. Should be ready to pickup this weekend. Challenge accepted.

Little of this, little of that. This was just hubby and I, only one day with the PT this week.
Good pump in the shoulders, I really like cables for shoulders, I feel it more than anything else. Squat press then prowler had my quads struggling by the last pull.
As hubby was pulling the sled and I was waiting at the end of the sled lane, two ladies (about my age) walked up to me and asked if we were athletes. I said no, we just come to gym. She said, really? No sports? I said no, not our thing. Then she said, we are both part of a women’s tackle football league. You look super athletic and I would love to have you on my team. She then proceeded to tell me where to find them on Insta, and to come check it out.
That’s new. I didn’t know football outside of schools and the NFL as a thing. Nice ego boost from her calling me athletic.

Kind of a meh day. Weird few days at work and school has me very distracted this week. Struggling to stay present. Still working hard, this had me sweating at least.
I just got a call from my butcher. My quarter cow is ready. The exact cuts and poundage are mystery until I pick it up. I am unreasonably excited about this, can you all tell? It’s like meathead Christmas.

Max bench day. 135 was great, 155 was too much, couldn’t get it off my chest. So my bench max has gone down about 15lbs. Can’t say I actually care, bench has never been my favorite.
Other than that, the season went well and fast, hence the foam rolling.
Here is my cow. Only ended up being about 100lbs. I totally could have fit a half cow. Now I know for next time.
I got a lot of roasts, ground beef, T-Bone steaks, flank steak, short ribs, plus a few cuts I had to look up, like a beef shank and flap meat. Worked out to be $8/lb, for grass fed and finished.
Everything is amazing so far!
Aw, no apologies will be coming from me!
Wednesday
PT Session 15
1000m row
Trx row
90 bicep curls
Machine low row
12x55, 10x95, 6x115, 1x185, 0.5x255, 1x205 (PR by default)

Rope curl

Reverse grip ez bar curl
Plank - 3 x 60s
Single arm kneeling cable lat pull - 3 x 10ea side
Back extensions 3x12
I say the machine row was a PR because I have never tested that max before, hence default PR. This was a pull day, we were supposed to test DL max as well, but I still have no idea when my back will cooperate with that. I did enjoy the back day though, I like rowing.
*Edit: I forgot to add, my PT had another one of his clients join us yesterday because it is the PT’s last week and he is trying to squeeze everyone in. This other client is a 30-something year old man, has been training with PTs for almost one year. I was able to lift more than him (beat him by 20lbs on the max row) on every lift, recover faster and he quit the workout early. I don’t say this to bring the other guy down, he has made awesome progress. I just never expect to out lift a man. I assume men will always be bigger, stronger and faster. Yet another ego boost… Not that I need more of those, but I’ll embrace them anyway!
I am positively delighted to discover that unicorns are, in fact, carnivorous animals. But if you look at the facts, they add up

And congrats on that haul!
That is a fantastic find. You always leave some great nuggets of information. I always pictured unicorns as being a demented, dark creature. Being carnivorous absolutely makes sense.
More like this, look at those fangs!
Thank you! Getting more meat in the house (and consumed) was in part, inspired by your nutrition as of late. I started adding larger portions of meat to meals, removing “fillers” like rice, and adding more egg whites to breakfast every morning.
Little changes over the last two weeks. Already I have noticed a significant drop in hunger, and I am not snooping around the pantry and fridge at 8pm every night. Amazing how fast the changes are.
It means so much for you to write all that out. I don’t comment in this log nearly as much as I should, but you are consistently killing it and setting the standard. I’m glad you’re seeing the benefits of that increase meat intake. I definitely have the self-awareness to recognize that I’ve become obsessed with this nutritional pivot, but it’s for this very reason: I just want to share how amazing it is when you “allow yourself” to eat more meat. It’s exactly like you observed: the hunger FINALLY ceases.
I dig your unicorn image. That’s absolutely what a Viking would ride into battle.
I appreciate you sharing with everyone on this forum! The “allowing” is something that took me a few weeks to get over. If I am still hungry, and I am only munching on some meat or eggs, I’ll just keep on going. I feel like I had to give myself permission to eat more, but only if it was basically pure protein. I was a calorie counter for years, and kicking that habit was so freeing, and I also dropped to the lowest bodyweight (without losing strength) that I have seen in years. Protein is the missing link that I was seriously neglecting.

Poor quality, but here is a video of the hip thrust
Pretty good day. Max out leg day looks a little weird without a barbell. After I hit those numbers, my PT proceeded to tell everyone else that works there what I did.
He took a video of the hip thrust, but the quality degraded after texting it over.
It was my PTs last day, so I will be working with one of the new PTs for one session next week. The PT I should be getting hasn’t opened her schedule yet. I’ll give the newbie one shot, but I am absolutely judging the book by its cover. I am bigger than him.
That’s got to be an awesome feeling! Great work!
What did you fill that on ? An old blackberry ![]()
