When Do You Build Muscle?

At what time of the day, or night, do you actually build the most muscle? I would expect it to be mostly at night because that is when your body rebuilds. That would make me think that eating a bunch of protein before bed would the most important time next to directly after a workout. Any thoughts??

Your body is constantly repairing itself. Granted, at night probably takes the cake, but I dont think that loading up on protein at night is going to make a difference either way.

when do you burn fat? when do you grow hair? when to you shed skin?

every full moon.

I would say that you burn fat when you are using energy but don’t have enough energy from the food you’ve been eating. I saw that marathon runners start burning fat almost immediatly when they start running.

You shed skin constantly, but more when you rub against things including your own clothing.

My question was valid so don’t go making up dumb answers just to prove you don’t know what your talking about.

i tend to build the most muscle while i sleep, when i take my creatine injection right before bed. the days that i didnt inject my creatine before going to bed, i dont wake up swole. but when i do inject it before bed, i wake up totally jacked.

Sleep is by far our most catabolic time, although it is also when PWO inflammation manifests itself (which seems like a delayed pump).

“every full moon.”

With this in mind, when I began bulking seriously a few months ago, I would eat all this within an hour of bed:

-yogurt
-1lb cheeseburger (no bun)
-can of tuna and cheddar cheese
-protein shake

Needless to say I put on some weight…and stayed relativly lean too. Dave Barr told me I take it too far (he told me this at the Test Fest), but I’m scared to death of losing muscle while I sleep.

Good luck.

as was stated before, when your not in the gym, your body is working on rebuilding the tissue you damaged. making sure that you have enough nutrients in you during the day is crucial for gains in mass. also, to take advantage of rebuliding during sleep, try using a casiene based protein.

i use probolic, which supposedly gives you a constant flow of aminos for up to 12 hours. i never wake up hungry anymore and i feel better in the morning. it gives me peace of mind that my body isnt using hard earned muscle for fuel.

Great info except I would recommend Metabolic Drive Complete or Low-Carb both contain casein. Read up on them in the store here at T-Nation.
