When and For How Long Should You Rest?

I am not talking about a deload week. Just completely stop and rest.

Do you mean take a week off?

I think more info is needed. Why are you stopping to rest? Fatigue? Injury? Vacation? Life change requires it? Just burned out and need a breather?

All of these may have different answers.

I would say, then, to not put a timeframe on it. Sometimes, the stress of feeling like you “have to” workout, coupled with life’s other stressors, is enough to wear you out mentally if not physically. What I would say to do focus on staying active with walks, bike rides, and other physical activities that aren’t programmed workouts. Keep eating clean, and getting rest. When you feel recharged and excited to get back into the gym, then get back in there. In the big scheme of things, it won’t matter one bit if it’s one week, two weeks, or even much longer.
