Wow. You boys sure are full of fancy, no?
And finally, for ignorant people to stop being ‘funny’ and making ‘women’ jokes around me, and to stop trying to make me who I am not. I don’t wear dresses. I hate purses. Just because I lift weights does not mean I’m trying to be a man. Just because I’m female, it doesn’t mean I can’t do mma or get in someones face and scream or backpack through africa or up a mountain alone.
thank you, Squiggles!!!
my purpose is to be as fit as i can be, to keep on lifting till i pass from this life, to leave something good of me on this earth. to live a life of compassion and grace that does not exclude kicking mighty ass when appropriate…to walk the rest of my days with strength, grace, compassion and beauty. and take my iron with me every step of the way.
If you are not working for your own happiness, then by process of elimination you are working for your own unhappiness.
Therefore, unless your goal is to be miserable, it is moral and right to make yourself happy.
Now, what is your ‘self’? You are a man. Therefore, whatever makes you happy according to what you are is the GOOD. Whatever is good for man qua man is GOOD.

This presupposes that there is only absolute happiness and absolute unhappiness. In reality, happiness/unhappiness can be measured on a spectrum ranging from complete happiness to complete unhappiness. I would also proffer that this spectrum should not be linear, but 2D or 3D whereby one’s happiness is affected by the happiness/unhappiness of others.

I normally hate ripping off the movies, but the phrase from Gladiator always struck me: “strength and honor”.
A man should live with these two things, for without them, we are nothing. They are maybe the most important things in the world. That’s what I try to do. The strength part is never a problem… it’s the honor section that I falter most often with.
Strength and honor are two good ones. But, what about “love and compassion”? And how about “hard work and perseverance” And let’s not forget “Incite and direction”.
I guess there’s quite a few two word purposes that one could propose.
To me, love and compassion fit under “honor”. An honorable man loves and shows compassion.

I’m impressed, DB! Seriously. This is a very philosophical statement. Life is not a sequence of logic gates, that’s for sure.
The anomaly in my philosophy is someone giving up their life to save their spouse/child — if the someone dies, they can no longer value anything. Yet the death of the loved one would also, according to the person who saves another, make life valueless.
