What's Your Favorite Metal Band?

Static-X def. sounds industrial metal. I’m not a fan, personally. Any pioneers of industrial metal that anyone recommends?

Ministry, NiN, White Zombie

Ministry, IMO probably the prototype (after pure thrash).

Skinny Puppy! Good call.

Anyone else looking forward to the new Tony Danza album?

Whoa… I looked at the official music video for push it and its awsome and trippy as hell. wtf!?

Pantera, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, BLS, Slipknot, Trivium, Ozzy, Disturbed … I guess that’ll do. I like pretty much anything. There are a lot of black metal/death metal that I just can’t warm up too.

Has anyone seen Metal: A Headbanger’s Journey? I thought it was an excellent documentary.

BTW the sound on the vid is shit.

Oh and Gojira is growing on me.

I just saw this recently. He covered a lot in a short time.

Christ, RJDio looked like he escaped from a morgue… God bless him. That munchkin can still sing his ass off.

He’s not doing so well these days-- battling cancer (I think stomach cancer).

Really?!?

I just looked it up and they said he’s doing much better than he was, earlier in the year. They’ve cut his chemo treatments down, also.

That’s good to hear! Hopefully he’ll beat it and keep rocking.

Lot of voice for this little dude:

Dio heading Sabbath was always a better line-up than with Ozzy.
Besides, Ronnie is the original Iron Dwarf!

The underrated “Dehumanizer” album from '92. HEAVY!!!

I saw Dio back in '88 I think, when he was on tour promoting ‘Dream Evil’.

Awesome concert and lightshow. Craig Goldy is a hell of a guitar player, also.

Can’t believe no one mentioned Dethklok, even as a joke.

I’ve been listening to metal of all sorts for over 30 years, but I have just not ever been able to make the transition to “Cookie Monster Vocal Metal”. I love the instruments and the grooves but convulsing into the mic has just never settled in with me.
Beat me to it. I just don’t get it.

I’ve listened to a few of the youtube clips you guys put up…I’m curious what it is you like about a song like sisterfucker? I’m not trying to be disrespectful. I grew up with Ozzy and Maiden and Priest and realize that doesn’t make me hardcore, but I can’t get into the stuff you guys mention at all…

x2
It was an acquired taste for me. If you listen to it enough you begin to love it. Just gotta get through the initial first stage.
How does one sing along with these tunes? I feel like one old fucker, but do you guys really like a song about putrefecation? NOW get off my lawn!

You’ll like this one then

lol…back when I played football in high school (in '88 for those of you that haven’t read my biography available on Knopf) we used to have fights in the locker room over whether to play metal or rap…the black guys all voted for rap and the white guys for metal except one strange guy that wanted John Denver…the black guys said Priest and Maiden just sang about killing their mothers…we thought it was pretty funny, but I guess to them it did sound like that…I have now become a black guy.

This guy has some good taste in music. I dont know who “The Sword” is.

I’d add KSE, Opeth, LOG and Tool.

I just saw Sevendust in concert.
