In no particular order
Iced Earth
Inflames
Megadeth
Oldschool Metallica
Lamb of god
Testament
Pantera
Symphony X
FFDP
Iron Maiden
and everything previously mentioned besides the growl metal. I just can’t get into it.

Good way to kick off summer over here in Europe

I’m jealous. A tour like that was supposed to come around here before Tom Araya had back surgery and Slayer pulled out. However, I am going to see Iron Maiden kick off the Final Frontier tour with Dream Theater.

You lucky fuckers lol. A friend of mine gets Classic Rock magazine and when I go to the back and see the line-ups for festivals in Europe i just shake my head.
I know! I go to a couple festivals each year. This year its Norway Rock, and Inferno Metal Festival. Hoping it will be as good as one of the German ones.

Integrity

Awesome.
I bet Dave Mustaine is still losing sleep over the fact that the Megadeth is not as big as Metallica’s.
Tool and Korn. Old Mettalica Garage and Lightening
saw Death mentioned on the first page, really a benchmark in technical metal, awesome shit, shame their singer died. Another good band in a similar vein is Atheist. For less straightforward, newer metal, id go with Mastodon and Horse the Band.
Just because it’s cool and this thread is about metal, my friends’ band is opening up for Vital Remains in an upcoming show.

I f’ing love tool. They’re my favorite band all time… but can they be considered metal…? I guess maybe opiate, salival, undertow, and aenima (a stretch for that one) could be considered metal… I’m not completely sure… such a complex blend of progressive rock, alternative metal, art rock, and progressive metal… it’s so hard to find a label for them.

You pretty much nailed how to describe Tool.

How about the most awesome metal of all time.
Actually tool and korn is all i really listen to any more.
Where does Static-X and Sevendust fit into the metal scheme? My workout playlist is heavy (no pun intended) on these two bands (amongst others).
Industrial? “Nu” metal?
BTW, nobody has mentioned Coal Chamber? (at least I didn’t see them listed).

I think Static-X might fall under Industrial metal… Whereas Sevendust might be just metal. I’m a fan of both.
I guess nu metal, I just go to wikipedia for the genre label of the more obscure/non-traditional metal bands…
