I’ve been listening to metal of all sorts for over 30 years, but I have just not ever been able to make the transition to “Cookie Monster Vocal Metal”. I love the instruments and the grooves but convulsing into the mic has just never settled in with me.
It was an acquired taste for me. If you listen to it enough you begin to love it. Just gotta get through the initial first stage.
Just recently I’ve started to listen to Kataklysm, but that’s the only band like that I’ve liked so far with the really deep growly vocals.
I’ve always been more into bands like Lamb of God, Pantera and Sepultura
Most people consider Soundgarden to be “grunge” (whatever the fuck that is), but from the onset they’ve always been a metal band.
Don’t believe it? Listen to these. HEAVY!
I asked the kids I teach the other day how many of them bought CDs. Not a signle one raised their hand. Now I feel like my dad must still trying to buy vinyl. Surely everyone here still buys some CDs right?
See, I like these songs. Kinda metal with some punk influence.
It’s not “Cookie Monster”. He is screaming into the mic, not deepthroating it like some cocksucker.

Yeah, it’s why I posted it. I understand most people can’t get into music where the vocals are deliberately delivered in an unintelligible way. However, Converge is still one of my favorite bands regardless of their vocals.

Nope. If I really want to listen to something really crisp and awesome, I’ll buy a vinyl if they sell it. Usually that’s not the case.

That’s cool. I respect the vinyl collectors too. As I said, my dad still buys vinyl. He has a record player that plays vinyl by laser rather than needle so his records last longer.
I buy CD’s and Vinyls. Have the shelf filled with old and new CDs Vinyls, Demos, Tapes, etc, and the walls covered with vinyl’s. I have a pretty small dormitory but still have room for my Amp, LP-player, CD-player, Speakers and Sub. I have a shitload of music on my computer, but i prefer to put on a CD or a Vinyl physically. I allwasy lay much more though into what to listen to when i do that. When i use my computer i often end up just putting on something random.
