unexpect
Cynic
Nothing beats good ol’ Metallica
Iron Maiden. Followed by Megadeth perhaps. But I can’t stand listening to either very much anymore. Got enough during my teens.
If you like Unexpect, try Solefald, Vulture Industries, Diablo Swing Orchestra, Borknagar and Arcturs’ the sham mirrors.

Impaled (seeing them next month, so fucking super-stoked!)
^best music video ever? I vote yes.
Fleshgod Apocalypse - New album soon!
Haemorrhage

Such as?
I know I already nominated one band, but I would like to point out Armored Saint. They are vastly underrated. Even though I like Belladonna Anthrax I actually started listening them after John Bush joined. I was probably the only person in the world that became an Anthrax fan because of Armored Saint.
I’ve been listening to metal of all sorts for over 30 years, but I have just not ever been able to make the transition to “Cookie Monster Vocal Metal”. I love the instruments and the grooves but convulsing into the mic has just never settled in with me.

I liked the other Anthrax singers, but I really like John B. He makes that band sound full. He has a BIG voice (like Bono, Vedder, Dio, Springsteen) I also like Saint- their new album is good…not great.

I’m still a fan of Dio, Iron Maiden, Priest, Queensryche, Anthrax, Slayer, Metallica, Megadeth…
Killswitch Engage covering Holy Diver by Dio = Best song to deadlift to… .ever…

It was an acquired taste for me. If you listen to it enough you begin to love it. Just gotta get through the initial first stage.
