What's the Best Type of Steak?

Hi guys,I am currently cutting and i am including steaks. What is the best type of steak to use?Sirloin is very very expensive is there any other good alternative

I’d eat any kind of steak. If you’re worried about excess fat, just hack it off after cooking.

The more the steak looks like hamburger meat, the cheaper of a cut it is, and the least fat content it contains.

Eye of Round is an option. It is very very lean and will dry out quickly, however it is about half the price of sirloin.

Almost always, I buy New York steaks, as they’re a good cut with a good price.

T-Bone or Porterhouse steaks are my second favorite. And I never knew it before someone on T-Nation posted that those cuts each consist of Strip Loin on one side, and Tenderloin on the other.

Looking for lean look cheap also llok for the word Loin and Round sirloin, eye of round, rump round etc, chuck is fairly lean as well.

You cuts with rib in it like Rib eye ( though my favorite) are much fattier have the marbling in the meat no cutting that away same with the T-Bones, poreter house etc generally your more expensive sought after cuts are higeher in fat

Filet all the way!

i like a t-bone or new york strip. with a healthy coating of lowry’s season salt and some blobs of butter on top (so it melts and blends in to the meat) make an excellent steak.

Sirloin is good, top round [or comparable] is cheap; flank steak is a treat [if you know how to prepare it properly

When you start eating 4-6 lbs a day everyday the cheapest is usually the best.

I think round cuts can be real good and lean. They taste great and are fairly cheap.

I highly doubt you are eating 6lbs of steak a day.

Oh gooood…

It’s been too long since the last forum poopy battle.

Oh and E… that’s 690 grams of protein a day just from steak.

OOOKKKKK.

Have you seen how monsterous E-man used to be?

Maybe not 6lbs everyday big, but definately several lbs of meat a day.

Porterhouse is definately my favorite as far as quality goes, but for mass quantities the cuts from the round are going to be your best bet for quality to price. Sirloin’s a little nicer than the round cut but will run you more.

Make sure you eat only grass fed beef. Grain fed has much more saturated fat and is generally less healthy. Grass fed is a bit more $ but worth it I believe.

I usually just buy what’s on sale. My favorite is a boneless ribeye, but will “settle” for a NY strip. I eat about 2-3 steaks a week. Of course if I could afford it, I would eat a fillet mignon steak everyday.

A photo of your specimen next to a ruler posted here will suffice.

But seriously, 6lbs of steak, 7 days a week? No way. I don’t care how big someone says you used to be.

I like tri tip and flank steak myself
