lol, even though im pretty sure you meant this tounge in cheek,i will elaborate… i do it because everything i have read says that the body follows the head. Also i have read that pushing the neck back helps your extensors fire, and forward you flexors…not sure where i read this but it seems to work for me( might have been power to the people or beyond bodybuilding)
I visualize myself performing and completing the lift. Visualization goes a long way, I think. For me, if I can’t visualize myself doing it with complete confidence, I usually miss the lift, or complete it with bad form.
I just try to think aggressive thoughts. Really convince myself it is going to be light. At the bottom of the squat I have to be aggressive and focusing on exploding the squat upwards. The attitude is really important for me. I can easily convince myself subconsciously that what i am lifting is heavy, but if I really focus i can make the same weights feel much lighter.

Sounds like you missed out on a perfectly good threesome, not to mention the Father/Son bonding experience. Add in a goat, whipcream, and weedwacker, and you’d have a really rockin party.
A girl in King magazine asking me to move her refrigerator or couch. If its a strength day I practice making it look easy, if its a muscle building day I imagine myself with a tanktop on flexing my biceps in every movement trying to get her attention.
Only problem is sometimes my set gets delayed. Specially on the bench press, I don’t need everybody in the gym looking at me.
At that point I’m not really thinking with the forebrain, it’s more of a mind/muscle connection thing. Though besides that I’m usually also keeping an eye out to make sure I’m not going to injure myself, and seeing how heavy it is to determine how much weight I should be adding for next week.
Depends on the lift - for DL, “Dig in,” since when I focus on pushing with my heels, I find my form falls into place. For squats - “Stay tight, and go deep.” For everything else, I remind myself that I am going to do this eventually, it might as well be today.
I imagine myself in an arena, with thousands of people watching me complete the lift(s), my family and friends gathered and yelling at the top of their lungs.
And they keep yelling until I finish the set, at which point I come back to reality and leave. That shit doesn’t work multiple times in the workout, you gotta save it for the one moment you need it.
