So NP in your opinion a big bodybuilder could actually be very weak? I can’t think of one bodybuilder I’ve ever seen the stats for who wasn’t impressively strong. [/quote]
No. Nobody knows what the hell “strength” is.
Some people think it’s how much you bench press.
Some people think it’s how much you squat.
Some people think it’s how much you deadlift.
Some people think it’s how much you handstand pushups you can do.
Some people think it’s how many pullups you can do.
Etc…
There is NO universal definition of strength. Therefore, I reject the notion that bodybuilders are “weaker” than powerlifters.
BBers can’t lift as PLers in the big three because that’s not what they train for.
PLers can’t leg press as much as BBers because that’s not what they train for.
PLers also can’t curl as much as BBers because that’s not what they train for.
BBers are the “strongest” at what they do.
PLers are the “strongest” at what they do.
Bodyweight guys are the “strongest” at what they do.
Nobody has any idea what the hell strength is. No one can define it. Therefore, strength does exist, for all intents and purposes. There is only “activity-specific proficiency”.
And I can think of plenty of huge BBers who couldn’t move as much weight in the big 3 as a PLer who trains those lifts. But that doesn’t make them weak.
