I couldn’t agree more.
The thing that scares me is that as a trainer I’m paid to help clients achieve the look they want, obviously education is a massive part of what I do, but as I said earlier if it were all about achieving that “look” then huge amounts of steady state cardio and very low calorie diets are pretty much the only way the average woman could ever get close to this.
If they ever get that look there’s no way they could maintain it; also they’re probably screwing their body up in the process.
I must say that one of the best things about being a big guy is when people assume you’re an idiot meathead; the instant they realise you’re not is a beautiful thing. It only rarely happens with me;)

Very interesting. I’m a girl that is skinny. I was 108 lbs and have gained 7 lbs of mostly muscle and I’ve gotten universally positive reactions. B/c I generally have a bit lower body fat, I look more muscular than the average woman and have even had other girls ask about my arms. We’ll see what they say when I start gaining my next 10-15 lbs. 
Still I see very few women willing to go into the free weight section and even fewer willing to go above 10 lbs DBs for arms and maybe 25 lbs DBs (don’t even think about anything that might involve a bar) for legs.
I can count the # of women I’ve seen deadlift on one hand and NONE could be considered bulky and all have well above the average physique you see on the street yet I still don’t see other ladies take note. It’s all very confusing to me since the results are right there for everyone to see.

Too bulky? (Refer to: HOT)
I can’t stand it when a girl has unnaturally low bodyfat and bird legs. While obviously I don’t want a girl who is overweight, I like curves, I like soft, and I like a girl who I don’t think of as “fragile”.
If I had to choose, I’d take a girl who I thought needed to loose 10 lbs over a girl who needed to gain 10. It may look cute to walk around with some tiny little thing on your arm, but at the end of the day I don’t want to feel like I’m humping a bag of antlers that I’m about to break in half.
Same thing with me, I’m no Adonis but I have a nice build, and without fail the girls I’ve dated have always liked it as much or more when I am bulking rather than cutting. I’ve dated a couple of girls who’s last boyfriends where super cut skinny little dudes, and every time they’ve told me they feel safer and more comfortable with me than they did with previous boyfriends.
Bottom line? Looks are fine for bars and beaches, but in my experience, at the end of the day you’re going to happier with someone who’s not obsessed with being tiny.
PS: I have to watch the mediocre at best movie “Stealth” every few months just to see Jessica slither through the mud. She’s perfection in a flightsuit, and I’m thinking it’s about time to queue that bad boy up on Netflix again.

I don’t get how women with muscle tone are bulky, yet the anorexic looking ones are desired. If I were a guy, I’d pick any of the “bulky” women over the others any day. Who wants to be with someone who eats a single leaf of lettuce every other day?

I think the perception of muscular has changed dramatically over the last 10 (?) years. I don’t really know, I’m not old enough. I partially blame television though.
I grew up watching the action movies with Stallone, Schwarzenegger, and other guys like that. Those movies are rarely ever on TV anymore, and often criticized as being “ridiculously stupid” among other things. I used to watch an action movie like that every night on TV, then they just stopped… almost completely. Movies these days features guys like LaBuff and the-spiderman-guy, and so that has become the new ideal. I really appreciated the making of the new Rambo, regardless of what you think of the movie, it’s nice to see it hasn’t died out completely, YET.
I’ve been looking recently, and in the movies I’ve watched, there are essentially no big guys at all, where as they used to be full of them.
