What to Eat for Lunch at Work, Heavy in Calories, Won’t Slow Me Down?

I’ve been struggling hard to get enough calories lately, I work a lot so most of my time 6 days of the week that’s where I am, for my job I get paid a rather nice production bonus so I’m basically running sprints with heavy objects (easiest way to explain) for my 30 minute lunch I usually just eat like a deli chicken sandwich or something similar, It would be great to fit more calories in as that’s one of my only chances to eat during my day but I need something that after eating won’t slow be down and kill my performance/make me sick as hell. Thanks In advance

I bring 5% peanut butter chocolate chip knock the carb out bars to work (metropolitan police officer swat) 20 grams protein, 29 grams fat, low carb. Very tasty.

I’m not a fan of sports bars and manufactured foods. I have two big bags of almonds in my office (one raw, one lightly salted), and one big of peanuts. If I need more calories after my lunch, I eat from these.

When I cut trees and had to move hard, fast and all of the time for extended periods–12-16 hrs., it was important to get quick hits and high volume, so fruits like peaches and bananas, and 500 ml. Whey protein shakes made with 2 scoops and mixed with milk between breakfast and lunch, after lunch, another round at like 4:00 or so, then late dinner, and a second late dinner.

You can only fit so much in at any given point lest you spend the afternoon feeling like a hippo.

Mango and pineapple are pretty calorie dense but not super heavy on the gut. White rice ain’t bad either. Protein is tough though, I’d say shakes or fish are the easiest way to get a lot down without feeling like a blimp.

Can you bring homemade stuff? Either wipe some nut butter on that sandwich or bring your own. Make the bread slices out of this Nordic Stone Age Bread for added calories Recipe for Nordic Stone Age Bread - Full of Nuts, Grains and Seeds

And the banana bread from here is really easy on digestion Desserts That Build Muscle replace quick cooking oats with almond meal for added calories

Coffee blended with protein powder and lots of butter- caffeine, protein and calories without the dangers of a carb coma!

Bonus points for the natural enzymes for digestion

Double bonus points if you know the cheat code to pick the good pineapple. Smell the bottom - if it smells sweet then it’s a good one. Buuuuuuuuuuut you get some funny looks sniffing pineapples’ butts in the middle of the store.

Sometimes my job gets physically demanding too. My work supper now usually consists of 1 large banana, 1 oz pecans, and 4 oz chicken, washed down with 2 (12oz) waters. Its different on weekends, and during warm seasons I switch on and off with a homemade taco bowl that consists of beef, black beans, greens, mozz cheese and sausa.

Bring a jug of milk (if you can handle lactose) or a shake

I still stand by my butter coffee idea though, especially since it’s getting cold

a big bowl of grits and whey shake. grits are a lot higher in calories compared to the same volume of oats, and its easily digested. throw some cheese and salt on them too lol

bonus points: grits are good hot and cold!
