What to Do w/ a Restricted Gym?

i have a question. after months of good progress, and changing my bodyshape to the point where im getting proud of it, my gym routine is about to take a hit…

everythings been going great work wise, but now ive been given the chance to work offshore. the liner ill be on is fantastic, like a floating city almost, but unfortunatly (according to my good friend whos on board right now) the “gym” they have is no more than a zillion cardio machines and the most basic of weight machines. oh, and a few dumbells, which my mate says are so light he uses the heaviest ones for sets of 10.

by most basic machines, i mean shoulder press, pec dec, seated row/lat pulls, leg ext/curl/press chest press and the pull up/dip bar machine. there isnt even a smith machine.oh, and of course -the dumbell rack and a couple seats.

my question is this… after 10 months of heavy deads/squats/bent rows and a solid weight room to play with, not to mention bjj 3 or 4 times a week, what am i supposed to do with this place to keep up my regime?
just bomb my body with supersets/failure sets?
2-a-days? any body have any ideas how i can lessen the blow so to speak, on my progress?

i am by no means advanced, ive only been training for about a year, but ive just got the feeling that the time ill spend on the ship will be detrimental to what i want to achieve because the equipment is so bad.
i cant bring any equipment on with me (weight restricted)
but ill be ok getting supplements and good food, its just the training im worried about.

its too good an oppourtunity to miss, and id hate my reason for not spending the next while in the sunshine earning good money to be -the gym sucked.

ANY suggestions would be appreciated.
thanks guys.

Think of it this way : You can keep the job you have now and go to a good/great gym, really focusing on gaining mass, or you could go work on the liner and deal with a little less progress and a great experience.

I’d choose the latter.

What are your goals?

Do they have barbells/weight plates? How heavy do the machines go up to?

In any case you can probably still make some progress, maybe not as much as if you had a ton of equipment at your disposal, but some nonetheless. You just might have to use a little ingenuity.

Im a FFB and my goals are size and strength, thats the diet/programs Ive been following.Never really bothered too much with “in gym” cardio because I was training elsewhere ( I started doing bjj around the same time) and Im just worried that only having the gym as my outlet for excercise will facilitate me in becoming a big 'ol fat guy again.

I dont feel I have the experience to make solid programs for such a small amount of equipment without overtraining, my initial instincts would be to just pick 2 excercise and bomb them for the one body part (example:back - pullups and machine rows) and work each body part 2 times a week.-
apparently there are NO barbells at all, just machines, and Im assuming they are the most regular weight limits judging by the people my friend tells me are in the gym everyday.
He also informs me that the dumbells are REAL light.

can get pretty big with weighted pullups and one arm press ups

You get to travel & see the world & they have decent cardio machines? Worry about getting big when you come back home.

IMHO the experience is well worth the time off from the gym doing “heavy” lifts. Just don’t blow up on the buffet foodline or fall off the damn ship & you should be fine.

Use this time away from weights to focusing on perfecting bodyweight exercises & endurance.

Have a good time.

take pictures please

Oh dude its like training at Planet Fitness huh? Fuck that shit, eat clean and do mild cardio. Thats what Id do.
