What Makes a TMUSCLE-Worthy Trainee?

In this week’s reader mail, Polo77j question about “TMUSCLE approved personal trainers / places to train” was posted. TC reply was that it would be a nice-to-have feature on the web site, but logistically difficult to determine if they were “TMUSCLE worthy”.

Obviously, I beginner like me has to start somewhere, but what makes a guy a TMUSCLE-worthy lifter in a gym? What about a TMUSCLE-worthy member? Is it time of lifting experience? Training knowledge? Lifting ability or performance (e.g., squatting 225, 315, or 405 for reps)? All men are equal if they put out the lifting effort, i.e., have attitude?

They let me in because I have a computer.

I’m sure you’ll have guys say it’s only for those that can lift X number of pounds or whatever, but I think it’s all about the mindset.

Yeah, that’s what happened with me too.

I’ll have to work on that TOO.

I can’t give out details, but it has a correlation with a persons rate of burger consumption.

Brad Welcome aboard, this is about the best early question I have ever seen from someone starting out. To be honest with you, you are likley going to get a million different answers, or 223 different answers, either one. Don’t pay any attention to anyone who answers with a join date of 2010, pay only a small amount of attention to posters with join dates of 2009, most will not get it. 08 and back should start to really sound a similar and most of those will be worthy rsponses and things you can tack up on your fridge.

However, IMHO being worthy is simply being the best you possibel. Whatever your goals are, persue them relentlessly, sharpen your focus and drive like and animal on the hunt until you achieve your goals. It doens’t matter if your goal is a high PL total, to be a shredded 250, to be able to wax all the other middle age guys at your weekend B-Ball pickup game because they can’t make it up and down the court without dropping a lung. You get the picture.

No one here is going to tell you your goals are stupid. Well most people worth a damn won’t and if you do have some seriously stupid ass goals like you want to grow a penis out of your back well yea, we will tell you that type of shit is stupid. One other thing is that you may not know what your goals are right now, you may just have a general sense that working out and eating clean will lead you to a better, happier you, and it will. So in that case, just hang out, learn, apply the things you learn and have fun with it. There is no race, there is no contest, it’s just you, your life and how you want to spend it. If you want to improve it there a pleny of us here who can help you in MANY aspects, and we’ll have a hell of a fun time doing it too.

First of all, that Polo dude is a massive tool! (:

When I started out at the gym, I lucked out and got a trainer who wrote a few articles here geared towards woman back in the day. I doubt I would like going to gym if it wasn’t for the stuff she taught me. When I see what kind of junk some of these trainers do with the newbs, it makes me sad. Half of them I don’t ever see again after a few weeks.

How old are you? If you are over 35 hang out in that section. Beware you have to do 5/3/1 or they eat you. Just like anything else in life the ones who come into doing anything new and act like they have all the answers are not T-Worthy. Just my opinion.

Attitude… and by that, I don’t mean ego.

If you can finish fapping before you get to the bottom, you’re in.

Is your gym a Globo Gym or a crack house with weights?

i think to be tmuscle worth you have to have a reasonable goal in mind, have a workout routine that will help you research it, and determination to go to the gym instead of happy hour. if your goal is to gain muscle, your are going to have to force food in your face, if its to lose weight you are going to have to be able to eat carrot sticks instead of nachos and watch you cals.

as long as you have a decent routine and a strong work ethic you are tmuscle worthy. if you are doing wrist curls, curling in the squat rack (under 135, if you are curling plates you can do it wherever you want) and arent wrapping wrist straps on the goddamn lat pulldown machine and doing 8 different ab workouts a day, you are tmuscle worthy.

I just tube steak boogied all over this dick fountain.

Thank you.

That’s what I do: try to learn more about training, refine my goals, and do the work.

I like that philosophy.

Thank you for your well-thought-out and -phrased response.

46, but I haven’t tried a 5/3/1 program, yet.

I think I know what you mean. I’m reading TC’s book, Atomic Dog. The man has attitude.

I work out at home. Power rack, Oly bars, DB bars, dip stand, all the plates I need so far.
