In this week’s reader mail, Polo77j question about “TMUSCLE approved personal trainers / places to train” was posted. TC reply was that it would be a nice-to-have feature on the web site, but logistically difficult to determine if they were “TMUSCLE worthy”.
Obviously, I beginner like me has to start somewhere, but what makes a guy a TMUSCLE-worthy lifter in a gym? What about a TMUSCLE-worthy member? Is it time of lifting experience? Training knowledge? Lifting ability or performance (e.g., squatting 225, 315, or 405 for reps)? All men are equal if they put out the lifting effort, i.e., have attitude?

Brad Welcome aboard, this is about the best early question I have ever seen from someone starting out. To be honest with you, you are likley going to get a million different answers, or 223 different answers, either one. Don’t pay any attention to anyone who answers with a join date of 2010, pay only a small amount of attention to posters with join dates of 2009, most will not get it. 08 and back should start to really sound a similar and most of those will be worthy rsponses and things you can tack up on your fridge.
However, IMHO being worthy is simply being the best you possibel. Whatever your goals are, persue them relentlessly, sharpen your focus and drive like and animal on the hunt until you achieve your goals. It doens’t matter if your goal is a high PL total, to be a shredded 250, to be able to wax all the other middle age guys at your weekend B-Ball pickup game because they can’t make it up and down the court without dropping a lung. You get the picture.
No one here is going to tell you your goals are stupid. Well most people worth a damn won’t and if you do have some seriously stupid ass goals like you want to grow a penis out of your back well yea, we will tell you that type of shit is stupid. One other thing is that you may not know what your goals are right now, you may just have a general sense that working out and eating clean will lead you to a better, happier you, and it will. So in that case, just hang out, learn, apply the things you learn and have fun with it. There is no race, there is no contest, it’s just you, your life and how you want to spend it. If you want to improve it there a pleny of us here who can help you in MANY aspects, and we’ll have a hell of a fun time doing it too.
