What I've Picked Up Along The Way

Hey Mr. Walkway

You should change your avatar. Standard Donkey already uses that exact image.

Good stuff man. Thanks for sharing. Now that I’m cutting I’m switching to pre instead of post workout carbs you talked about in another thread from dat.[/quote]

wise choice… The reason people use post workout carbs is not to restore glycogen necessarily, as their pre-workout and peri-workout nutrition handled that completely (and unless they are marathon runners, they will certainly not be burning through that much glyocgen in a workout… at all)

it’s because they use exogenous insulin, and without the carbs, their blood sugar would tank, causing them to pass out, possibly resulting in a coma.

Are there any videos on youtube for foam rolling? I’ve looked and only saw a few women doing it, didn’t seem complete…

I’m quite interested in it, since Active Release Technique massages are expensive…

im sure it’s nothing a google search can’t turn up… its not a complex process by any means. the foam roller is SUCH a wonderful tool… you can even use a PVC pipe, those are KILLER

id recommend starting with a high quality foam roller though, make sure its firm

Yes thank you great post, good ideas for all.I agree on keeping yourself healthy with JMS advice of pre-pumping the muscle .Ever since doing that before squats ive had zero knee pain.I pretty much pre pump all body parts now before my main lifts and it has made a big difference.

would you mind posting your typical training day diet? interested in seeing how you lay out your meals, especially with this carbless PWO.

How do you alter this on a bulking phase? Split the carbs pre and post-workout? Or will you continue to use pre only?

I use carbs pre/peri/post, as a result of my “supplement” usage

for those of you who are not using the same “supplements”, i recommend only using carbs pre/peri

-this would look like:

30-40g breakfast

60-100g pre-workout
50-60g peri-workout

lol i agree the natty PB is hard to stop eating—personally i try my best to always measure my consumption of it on a scale—but there is some awesome advice in this thread that i wish i knew earlier…i learned a lot of this same stuff by working with shelby as well.

awesome, thank you.

So nice to see a high quality, well thought out post, the kind that makes this place worth coming to. Thanks Mr. Walkway.

I use a lot of these same techniques and I just wish I knew about a lot of this when I first started out.

I particularly agree with contracting the hamstrings hard before finishing off legs with sldl’s, also locking out the shoulders rather than the elbows on presses is excellent advice, I just figured this out like a month ago.

Have you competed or do you have any plans to?

no competitions anytime soon. dieting down repeatedly isn’t great for growth lol

Any way of you linking us to a picture of you/your progress? I think I remember seeing you say Shelby had one on his Facebook but I couldn’t find it. Great thread though, I’ll make sure to come back and read it again.

i prefer to remain anonymous. The individual Shelby posted could be me, and it could also be someone else

Again, ?BULKING UP? is foolish (especially if you are not using performance enhancing drugs), outdated, and can really slow down your progress in addition to causing health issues like high BP and a sluggish digestive system.

any advice for late night carb cravings? pretty sure i can eat like 4 cups of rice every night before bed. possible hormone imbalance?

probably a question that doesnt belong in a “bodybuilding” forum, but any advice for a quick meal on the road? subway, quizno, cheeseburger, chicken burger, etc.

are you serious? I dont mean to come off as a prick, but you are a grown ass man… have some restraint.

as for your question, pack your own meals… seriously… was this post meant to be a joke?

LOL. as a non-bodybuilder who has no intentions of competing, ever, and doesnt pack every, single, meal, looking for healthy options was a viable question.
