What Happened to the T-Nation Community?

You all amaze me how you miss on every single topic in here. The reason the forums have dropped off is because debrD doesn’t post pics of her glorious back side anymore.

That is also fact.

In California, especially in the Bay Area, $15/hr is more like the minimum. I would set a firm price of $16/hr and throw in a fat burrito at lunch.

Not sure about the busy factor – I’m busier than I was when I posted here often: wife, 3 month old, job, etc – that’s not what keeps me away.

I was always on T-Nation to learn about training. But I’ve been at this for 10 years. Especially true with the newer content that’s more buzzfeed-esque (I miss the Atomic Dog column).

If I visit T-Nation, it’s mostly just to get to the store and get out. Which, I suppose, was the goal of the forum in the first place.
This.

How many articles about squat depth or deadlift technique can one read before it becomes useless, redundant information?

I feel like this site, for most visitors, serves a few basic purposes: novice/beginner lifter comes on, learns a few things, obsesses over all the different and competing viewpoints about an endless amount of approaches to training, they try practically all of them, they then suffer from info/program overload, switch to something simple like 5-3-1, find themselves reading less and less articles because they are irrelevant to them, find themselves more and more often in the forums, and then find themselves more and more often in the non-training forums, and then find themselves growing bored with the puerile/sycophantic tone of 99% of the threads in GAL, come over to PWI and realize they probably aren’t equipped to participate in 99% of those threads, and then leave.

This wouldn’t be a problem if more and more newbs came on here to replace the ones that have outgrown the site.

But look around. Newbs are typically people in their late teens/early twenties. But that particular demographic, in this country anyways, is filled with a bunch of FUCKING SWISHES looking for safe spaces for themselves and their motherfucking tinkerbell/ass-pirate buddies. A site like this would be an absolutely TRAUMATIC experience for most in that demographic.

'Tis a shame.
lol oh where have you been hiding man?
Plain sight. Actually, there isn’t much to bring me here on a regular basis anymore. I’ve rejected all things NFL-related, so the NFL threads are pointless.

I started an NBA thread, but since everyone in the last one made a fool of themselves trying to denigrate the Warriors, and then they started out this season the way they have, nobody goes in there. They look about as stupid as I did with all the Kaepernick talk a while back. I would go back into the NFL thread to take the deserved haranguing from all you guys, but I really don’t give a fuck about anything to do with the entire NFL, so there would be no point in me going in there. I made my thoughts on the NFL pretty clear in the last NBA thread, toward the end, so you can check that out if you want to know my thoughts on the league.

Aside from that, I am just too busy now to come on here all the time and participate in threads unless I really have something to say or it is a thread that captivates my attention. That means that I have been limiting myself to PWi threads on occasion and something in GAL about twice a year.

I still think the site itself is great. It’s just that the utility of the site, for me, is non-existent now.
Well just glad to hear you are okay. Sorry to hear about the NFL hate, you always had thoughtful and entertaining thoughts.

There is always College football.
COLLEGE FOOTBALL???

College is even worse than the NFL! I got off that fucking bandwagon years ago. NCAA football is the place where a motherfucker like Aaron Hernandez can gain legitimacy simply because he’s good. The Florida State bullshit is only the tip of the iceberg. As fucked as the NFL is, college is ten times worse.

Have you heard some of these college players interviewed? Half of them can’t even spell their fucking name! And I’m supposed to get into that shit?!?!?!? For every motherfucking thug with a laundry list of police run-ins that gets into a prestigious school like UT Austin or the University of Florida, there’s another hard-working, intelligent, upstanding student who EARNED their way to a higher education and whose application gets rejected so that someone like Ray McDonald or Aldon Smith can play football there.

Only fucking socialists and outright COMMUNISTS could enjoy a system like that! Is that what you fucking are?!?!?!?!?!? A goddamned pinko fucking LEFTY? I fucking knew it. The NFL is a kleptocracy and the NCAA is for Marxists.

I’ll watch Stanford, and that’s it. At least at Stanford you know every guy on that team earned their way into the school on actual merit, not because someone felt that they deserved a chance more than some other student who actually achieved something.

Now baseball, THAT is a sport! Baseball is for people committed to republicanism and a respect for the Natural Rights of the individual. Baseball is for people who place Higher Law above the will of the majority, for those who reject Rousseau and embrace Madison.

Baseball is a sport that reflects all of the finest characters of the individual; football, be it the NFL or the NCAA, is more akin to what the entire country would look like if the Germans had won the war.
You realize that school’s athletic teams bring in BIG bucks for schools? Not to mention 99% of the players won’t go pro so they’re actually there to get an education? Why would a school admit a kid that’ll make them 20k when they can pay someone 20k and get a return investment of 1million+.

@mbdix:

In actuality, football players are increasingly coming from the SAME walk of life, especially now that the cat’s out of the bag about chronic traumatic encepholopasy. They’re practically all degenerates with absolutely NO skills in life that are applicable anywhere other than the gridiron. And 99% of them are from the United States.

Baseball players hail from all over the globe. Players regularly come from Venezuela (again, to escape socialism), Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Australia, Canada, etc. There LITERALLY are players from all walks of life coming together to defeat a common enemy when it comes to baseball. Not so in football.

When was the last time you even watched a baseball game? They lay themselves in exhaustion on the field all the time. In football, it’s not out of exhaustion, it’s because their brains are too scrambled to do anything else. And football is such a lame fucking sport that they can only play 16 games a year. Baseball players have played 16 games after less than three weeks of the season.

Furthermore, in baseball it is almost exclusively the players who determine the outcome of the game. They are THE main characters in the drama that unfolds every day. But in football, the players themselves are more and more becoming supporting characters. The coaching staff has WAY more to do with the outcome of the game than the coaches in baseball. And let’s not even get started with the ref situation.

I’ve seen that sorry old fucking man and that video enough to know what it’s in it. It’s irrelevant drivel. But given your posting history, I should have expected that you would resort to the puerile ramblings of a dead man instead of making your case on your own.

There’s only a handful of schools that make any significant money from their football program. And I don’t think there is a single school in NCAA sports making ANY profit from ANY sport other than football. There might be a couple schools (Duke, UConn, UNC) that make money on basketball.

I wasn’t aware that schools were businesses first and places of higher education second. And while 99% of the players won’t go pro, don’t tell them that. They virtually ALL arrive at DI programs with some sort of hope of playing professionally. Most of them aren’t there to earn an education; they’re there to try to become that 1% that makes it.

And let’s not even get started on the criminality aspect. Actually, let’s.

When I was in college, if I had been arrested for assaulting another student in any way whatsoever, I would have been expelled. Period. And I was an athlete at a DI school. But that standard doesn’t apply to football players. Look at Cam Newton. He was caught cheating several times while at Florida, and he was also involved in some on-campus thefts. It took ALL of those transgressions to get him kicked out, and that’s only because they had a guy named Tebow playing there anyways. Any other athlete in any other sport would have been kicked out after just one of those transgressions. Jameis Winston only furthers my point.

I think they make the jars extra wide for organic peanut butter. Plus, that shit usually has all this oil sitting at the top, which closely mimics the consistency of mbdix’s asshole.

That can be a major pain in the ass. These forums have always had technical issues. Even today there’s still database issues, or forum software issues, that I called attention to almost 10 years ago.

You’d need something a LOT harder, and a LOT longer, than a tongue to swirl the oil into the lumpy stuff underneath.

(I’m trying for a loaded carry, I heard it’s the new panacea.)

I understand the good legal reasons for dropping PM’s.
But I do think that this also reduced a sense of community. At least for me because I was doing a lot of one-on-one TRT assistance.

I think that the website experience could be improved.
Things like the jump to last un-read post in a thread have been broken for a few months now.
And most of the stickies lost their “sticky icons” with the rewrite of the system a long time ago.
The tech support forum was morbid and was finally removed.
The feedback email provision shows no signs of been acted upon. I suspect that the feedback email is flooded by spambots and valid traffic is lost in a mess. You can try “fb@T-Nation.com

I do understand that most forums have nothing to do with selling product. But active forums with really good content does greatly improve this websites ratings in search engines which is a highly enviable outcome.

I do feel that the website experience could be improved and that this might improve the Communities forum traffic and quality.

I have done everything that I can do to try to see if things can be improved or fixed. I have not tried to reach someone via the product store phone number.
