Long story short, Jan. 1 I decided to stop logging into TNation because it was consuming too much time for me and I just thought it was time for me to stop being jaded by the forums in my training.
These past few weeks I started reading a few forums here and there and even posting again. I’m scratching my head wondering, “what the hell happened in the last 7 months? Where are the good posters at?” Every other thread is just troll posting and half the responses in each thread are troll jobs…and they’re not even funny. At least around the time I stopped posting most of this stuff was kept under wraps by a wave of experienced posters calling them out on their bullshit. Now, it goes unchallenged and some well intentioned newbs are lead completely astray. Meanwhile intermediate lifters don’t have the opportunity to learn from more seasoned posters since they don’t want to wade through all this crap.
What happened? I’m very confused. Where are the posters who come on a bodybuilding site, because they are interested in bodybuilding and not just in regurgitating information from a 1970s text book on weightlifting or from some “fitness” idiot on youtube?
Guys, if you find yourself ever posting the following “[blank] is the best/worst for [blank],” you should not be posting yet.
I find the forums great and have got a lot of information out of them already, however I think I am probably one of the dick head posters in your eyes so it is what it is.

Idk. I just looked at your post history and it looks like you just post legit questions. Doesn’t look “dick head” to me. I’m talking about the guys who have been training a couple of months but are trying to answer everyone’s questions based off of what they’ve heard.
I’ve noticed the same thing. Bonez, Bushido, and many others who made this their life’s, and passions. Guess they just got tired of the little kids. I’m glad Stu is still around.
I forgot to mention Prof X, Marauder, and many others who actually try to help out those less experienced. I’ve learned a lot from this site. Those youngsters…they just keep getting less appreciative of those who are trying to guide them in the right direction. Always up in arms about some small comment, and are over looking the bigger picture. Lift big, eat big, sleep big…get big.
I don’t know how it was here before I joined, and I didn’t lurk before then.
Even if most of the experienced people don’t post anymore, for me as a noob the site is still a goldmine of information. As on any internet forum, after a short time you get a feel for who knows what they’re talking about, and with that knowledge I can weed out the info which I believe to be helpful. When certain people post, I stand up and listen, and when certain people post I don’t even click on the thread.
I restrict my postings to GAL or PWI because I don’t know enough to help anyone, and wish that others who are in the same boat would do the same. But unfortunately as BBing (or T-Nation in general) becomes more popular, this site will always attract more and more idiots.
To prove my point just look at how many people in “RMP” have a note of 3 or less.
A lot of the experienced guys have left, or post a lot less than they did. The beginners section would be a complete write off, if it wasn’t for the valiant efforts of people like Chris Colucci. The bodybuilding forum seems to be overflowing with trolls and idiots who think they are experts after a month of training and a lifetime of reading Chad Waterbury.

They also got rid of SAMA, Sex and the Male Animal, which angered a lot of people, and was probably the most popular section.[/quote]
Yeah, but not to most of the serious iron guys here. Some people who posted in SAMA probably didn’t even lift, and many didn’t even venture into other forums.

Bans were imposed and a lot of members who usually stop the inmates from taking over the asylum are gone.
It probably just seems worse to you than it actually is because you’ve been hit with months worth of changes in one go.
I don’t know what it is about this time of year, but the trolls seem to be out in force. Summer lolztice?
I’ve tried to qualify most everything I’ve written. In the case of “exercise selection”, it’s been generally “this is what X recommended, but I haven’t tried it myself”. Or “if anyone more experienced contradicts me, they’re right, I’m wrong”.
As far as bodyweight-only training and running topics, I do speak from experience. I’ve also done a bit of kettlebell stuff, and some of the truly old-school lifts like the Steinborn and bent press.
But, if you want me to cut down the “this is what X said” stuff, I can do that.
Yeah, I left for a while too. When I came back a lot of the guys I looked up to are gone. It’s super gay I wonder if they just gave up on forums or moved to another site.
Besides some people leaving, i dont think the forums have been too bad. There is only so much to talk about, however. I think there have been some pretty good informative threads this year such as timmicbrides, zraw, thoughts, and waylanders comp threads and ofcourse stus thread. There is always going to be trolls and well known posters leaving or posting less. This is the nature of internet forums.

The forums have gone downhill lately. That is the way things go when the vibe of the forum matches Jersey Shore. Hope you guys like it.
