When you realize you are too tired, are having a bad day at the gym or for some other reason are unable to perform as intended?
Do you lessen the intensity? Skip the workout for more of a Heavy Duty frequency? Use more isolation excercises? Making a split regime for shorter workouts? Go home to never return?
I’m asking in case I end up in such a scenario again. Last time I did 1-2 home excercises daily - a sort of split - which served me fine, but became a bit boring. Maintenance.
If i know that i am too tired or too sore or just not into it, i take the day off and come back on the next sceduled day…my normal days are m/w/f…if i am not feeling it for wednesday, i just come back on friday

There’s times when I know I’m not in to it and just don’t go and other times when I think I’m not feeling it yet after starting end up having a really great workout. Seems to be a fine line where you’re really too tired or mentally not there and just looking for an excuse. If I begin a workout and decide I’m really not mentally into it that day, I leave … not worth the chance of an injury if my mind is in other places and not concentrating on what I’m doing.
Missing one workout isn’t anything … you’re in it for the long haul. I rarely miss workouts now because of not feeling recovered since I ditched full body routines many years ago. If I miss a workout these days it’s something to do with things other than not feeling physically able.

This happened to me today. I woke up feeling like crap for some reason and seriously considered skipping a workout. I decided to go for it and had a great upper body workout. Wierd eh.

It’s happened to me many times.
I didn’t sleep great last night (some job stress lately) and trained legs this morning. I limited the sets, but trained pretty hard and feel good tonight.

In my opinion, a good program allows for some auto regulation. If you’re not feeling it, you don’t go for the PR. Just hit your minimum reps and move on. Not every day is going to be perfect. I’ve come to grips with that. There are always ways I can create “wins” in a workout, even if I’m not PRing on my main lift. I can still try to get say, More weight/reps than I’ve ever gotten on a set of Chin ups or get to 100 in 5 sets with better form than ever. I can do more weight than ever on Reverse Grip Bench. There’s always room for wins. On the very worst of days, just training is a win.
