Knowing that there will always be harder cunts than me (spetsnaz, SAS, WW2 vets, Coal miners, Steel workers, spartans and other general people involved in badassery) and that means I better get to work if im going to be more than a warm shit in a stiff wind compared to those fellas.
Also when the time comes (sparring, moving, playing sports) it’s good to be strong.
Which is one of the reasons why I’m very apprehensive about layoffs. They tend to extend themselves beyond their original design and many times transform from “I just need a break” into “shit, it’s been that long since I worked out?”
Quite simply I believe the 2 sides to this coin are #1 wanting to improve more than you want whatever stands in your way and #2 really believing the goal you’re after is achievable in a finite period of time.
When either of these is waning the motivation won’t be far behind.
I think the a lack in the second unwittingly leads to a lack in the first more than is commonly realized, especially if the progress slows down or seems to fall off completely.

No you don’t. If you did you wouldn’t be on an internet message board looking for that kick in the ass. What that should say is more like “I want to look better and be stronger, but I don’t really want to do the down and dirty work that some of you are doing”. If you think I’m being a dick then fine, prove me wrong.
now this was the kind of responce i wanted. it pissed me off enough to go to the gym (even tho this is supposed to be a rest day, so i kinda shouldnt of)and i have had the best workout in ages. i was even sick, haha.
thanks
Ok, that’s step one.
Step two is not to rely on somebody on the internet that you don’t know and do it your darn self.

This one hits home for me personally. Totally reflects my attitude about it.
Except that I’ll add that I train to be able to lift heavy things off of people or whatever comes my way (you’d be surprised) that strength will help me in assisting others in need. Yeah, I’m 35, but still have a superhero complex.
I’ll also add that I love being able to do things that those non-training people can’t do.
This, and I don’t want to be of the"normal" (i.e. out of shape, fat, and weak) crowd in this world.
Better to be the bottom of the minority in this case than in the top of the majority.
as for motivation for you… try making a motivation wall. tape any rock hard bodies you like to you bedroom wall, then just try missing a workout when thats the first thing you see every morning.
Good one cormac. I just don’t want to be physically weak period. Power to hike the mountains, power to pack out wild game I have hunted on my back when needed, power and strength to get the job done any job when needed.
Uh, and the rape one however unusual is pretty good to. Don’t eva wanna let that shit happen eva!
I’ve always strived to perform at a higher physical level than my peers. I refuse to be a weak, out of shape whiner like many my age.
And of course the usual motivators: Korn, Disturbed, NIN; thinking of all the people who’s asses I’d love to beat…
