What Do You Do for Motivation?

hi…

Im finding it really difficult at the moment to motivate myself to go to the gym.
my training patterns have become really infrequent and when i do train i dont seem to be able to push myself as much as want too, also i have become lazy with my nutrition to the extent it has become a joke.

i do think it is slightly lazyness and i just need a kick up the ass(feel free to give me that kick)but i am also sooo tired all the time.
no matter how much i rest im always half asleep, i was wondering could this be down to bad nutrition?
i really want to meet my targets so any advice would be cool.

thanks in advance

No you don’t. If you did you wouldn’t be on an internet message board looking for that kick in the ass. What that should say is more like “I want to look better and be stronger, but I don’t really want to do the down and dirty work that some of you are doing”. If you think I’m being a dick then fine, prove me wrong.

my motivation is wanting to get big and strong. It’s fairly simple.

To answer the question from the title of the thread, “what do u do for motivation?” I look at guys like you.

Read the old article called “Merry Christmas Bob” here, figure out which person in that story you sound like…

I get motivation from this site. Also videos. Seeing other people who are bigger and stronger than me is inspirational.

I was thinking about checking out Golds in Venice Beach and doing a few workouts there. Being around higher level men and women always gets me to kick it up a notch.

Getting away from the computer in order to not have to deal with people with silly names like “oONooBOo” is my strongest motivation.

I just look at pics of Ronnie Coleman and I immediately bust a whole through the door on my way to the gym.

I work out around a gym full of bodybuilders and not fat people who just want to claim that they can’t lose weight. Yesterday I was doing my crappy leg routine while some other guy worked his way up from 180 lbs to 950 lbs, adding 90 lbs a set, on a leg press, right before going back down to 270 with a series of quick drop sets.

And he’s not even one of the big guys at my gym. Seeing that kind of shit is a great motivator.

LOL!!! OW!!!, but I agree.

Any motivation that lasts comes from within. There is no escaping this fact and the landscape is riddled with the bodies of half ass wannabes who look elsewhere for the drive to continue.

I know what I’ll decline back into if I stop. That keeps me going strong, in my basement, with nobody but me to cheer me on.

Fuck motivation. Schedule a time that you train–you always train at that time. No excuses. It takes motivation out of the equation, and turns training into part of your schedule, not something outside of it.

Only takes motivation for the first month. If you don’t have enough for that, you obviously don’t want it enough.

I agree motivation has to come from within. If you don’t really want to do something you will not do it.

i like to look at girls that are out of my legue and it motivates me to better myself. works every time for me, if i don’t feel like a workout then i’l take 5 mins to ‘study’ a picture of adriana lima and i’ll have all the motivation and energy i need to have the best workout of my life.
girls are, quite frankly, the main reason i workout.
shallow i know, but hay, works for me.

Results give me the biggest motivation. Starting from scratch can be difficult if you have nothing, but once you see your lifts are going up and you are getting bigger and stronger that should be motivation enough. Just go to the gym for a month and bust your ass and eat good. If you don’t have the motivation for that, tell yourself how shitty your going to feel if you slack off and put no effort into it (for me, this is the worst feeling in the world). Not to say you are going to reach your goals in a month, but you can get some damn good results in a month. Give it a try…

consistency and hard work is all that matters.

When I first started I wasnt motivated either. I would lay down on the bench, wondering what might be on TV and then boom I was gone. About a month into it I began to see strength go up muscles appear and boom I was hooked. Now if I cant got to the gym I get pissy. All I think about now is hitting the weights. Good luck and stick with it.

also…
Nutrition can have something to do with your sleep, but, I find if I get more than 9 hours of sleep a day, I am groggy for the whole entire day. Sleep 7-8 hours a night, and force yourself to get up. You should feel more energized and less tired.

Maybe your goals are set too high? How about making it to the gym as goal number one and build on that?

Look in the mirror every day and see if you’re happy with what you have…
