Agreed, its been a bit dead. But can’t it be cool worthwhile topics? Not, how strong am I topics?

What I find ironic is that the standard advice on this forum is " Shut up and compete, everyone there will help you and they are cool as fuck" yet most folks on here are total smart asses and unhelpful, nor “cool as fuck”…that lends me to believe that none of you people compete or you save your helpfulness for these alleged competitions.

Why can’t people just answer the question or just don’t type? the guys at EFS get asked the same shit 1000’s of times and they don’t act like doosh bags…

OP if you want some real advice without all the cynical teenager shit talking try wanna be big…and yerah I hope this pisses some of you off. Happy Holidays lol
Either start paying me or give me free Metal gear and I will respond to questions however everybody wants.

That wasn’t his first meet, and he had been training for over 20 years before he did his first meet. He also didn’t go around asking what good numbers were before he competed.

Not trying to rustle any jimmies. Just thought the current raw record might inspire the OP.

Yeah…thats a strong dude

MAYBE this question will be deemed “cool” enough…

I looked at some of his videos and noticed that he benches with a reverse grip. Is that at all common among powerlifters? Also, is there any benefit to lifting that way even if only in trainng?

Not at all common. In fact, since most feds don’t allow it, I don’t believe most train it. But there used to be a great guy on here (Maraudermeat) who benched reverse grip in competition and was highly successful. I think it saves the shoulders because it requires a serious tuck rather than flare.

Gotya. I could be wrong but it seems like it may be pretty beneficial to the triceps. I couldn’t see ever maxing that way, but I figured it could potentially be a good supplementary training tool.

You can be the strongest and most intelligent guy on this forum but it doesn’t mean shit if you’re too arrogant to offer some basic information.

To the OP, I recommend competing as a few have said. Your numbers look solid; research on rules and regulations for a particular competition and practice your lifts under those circumstances. If you can pull those numbers in a local competition I’m sure you would do well.
x2 you guys are fucking harsh

I’m pretty sure Jamie has written about it somewhere

I just wanted to put forth a thought since my original question caught so much heat. If this topic/question is so common and been drilled into the ground, why doesn’t someone create some form of comprehensive “sticky” that answers my question and offers some sort of general baseline information to new powerlifters/prospective powerlifters? I have noticed that some other categories have basically FAQ stickies or guidelines at the top of the list so as to eliminate this sort of thing…maybe I’m missing something, like I said, just a thought

It’s certainly not a bad idea, but whether people actually read the stickies before posting is another matter entirely. Check out 90% of the threads on Rate My Physique if you want an example.

Good idea, but in pure pessimistic view, the beginners section is a great example of EXCELLENT stickies which dont seem to get the notice they deserve.

Hope this helps.
