Westside Questions III

I just got in my bench shirt. It’s a Inzer Double Denim open back with velcro. I measured everything they told me to, but I’m not even remotely close to being able to get this thing on. My wife has been jerking on me (not in the good way) for an hour. Can someone who’s worn one of these things give me some tips. Thanks.

sounds like its too big.

Doogie-

Is there anyone at your gym that knows anything about shirts? It’d be a lot easier than having your wife try to do it (that will probably go nowhere and lead to her bitching about how it hurts her fingers…I know from experience).

Best thing I can tell you is to work up the end of the sleeves little by little (someone else will probably have to do it) once you’ve got your arms through a bit. This may hurt a bit as you might get pinched a lot. When you’ve got the sleeves to where you can bend your elbow (sleeve should be just past it) you’re good to go. You can roll the sleeves once if need be to get them past the elbow.

Good luck…the tighter the better.

Is that sarcasm, Goldberg? I’ve helped people put on normal Inzer HDBlast shirts, so I understand what tight means. I can’t get this thing on past my right forearm, and my left shoulder is nowhere near fitting into it. I don’t want to screw Inzer and send it back for a bigger one if I’m just a snatch.

Doogie- Usually with the Inzer fitting instructions the shirt is sometime 1 size small. It is because they dont take into count body shapes and structures, in my opinion get about 3 people who know what they are doing to try to get the shirt on if they cant go up 1 size, this happens all the time when guys from my crew get there shirts from inzer…Good luck Big Martin

Thanks. I’m taking it to the gym tomorrow. The owner competes and he’s going to help me. I called Inzer and talked to them. I told the lady that since I don’t know what I’m doing, the problem is probably on my end. She said, “Probably not.” So, if we can’t get it on tomorrow–and I’m not optimistic–I guess I’ll send it back.
My measurements cold were: Arms 15", Chest 45", Shoulders 51". The shirt they sent is a 45.

Dont inzer do their sizings off the shoulder diameter ?

cos if they do it will be a lot too small

cycomiko and bigmartin-

You’re both right. This is exactly why I follow the guidelines I outlined in one of the previous WS threads…I measure every damn place I can (see the old thread for details if you care), and I make sure they customize it to these exact measurements.

Steve,

I ordered over the phone and asked them about your recommendations. The lady taking the order said they only customize the size by the arm, chest, and shoulder measurements. I had measurements for all the stuff that you recommended, but she said they don’t use it.

doogie-

You made me dig up one of my old receipts…they have all of my instructions typed on there and apparently done to the shirt (as it fits perfect). Sleeve length customized, taken in an extra inch behind the shoulders, chest, arm circumference (two spots), shoulders, etc… Not sure why they wouldn’t for you.

Steve,

Three men couldn’t get it on me last night at the gym. I just got off of the phone with Inzer again. I told them what you told me and the guy says you are right. So I gave them all of the measurements again and he said the shirt I have is definitely too small and that they are starting to make me a new one now, even before I get the old one back to them. He was very apologetic. Thanks for all of your advice. Being my first shirt, I was just afraid I was being a pussy when trying to get it on.

I have what I believe to be a small pec tear (felt three Rips, there is much bruising and some pain). Does anyone have any suggestions for working around it. Right now I’m planning on spending the next 4 weeks working on weak points–lots of shoulder, back, tricep work. I can’t really think of any heavy tricep work that doesn’t affect the chest. Also, is there a decent substitute for speed bench. Thanks for any advice.

When i ordered my shirt, i said all i got all these measurements that i want you to use. She said ok. Whether they do or not is a different story.

About your pec tear. You should probably see someone about it. If you can get ART with accupuncture that would be great. I would do a bunch of high reps to get the blood in there really good. Like 100 reps with the bar or something along those lines.

substitute for speed bench - push jerks?

doogie- Check elite fitness, Dave has showed step for step what to do when you get a pec tear…Big martin

Hey all you guys who do reverse band presses how high is it from the top of your power rack to where the bar hits your chest. We measured ours for the first time of doing this exerscice in 2 years and we dont even have 4 feet to work with. I think I have heard some guys say there rack is a little taller im just wondering …Big Martin

I run chains over the I-beam in my garage, and choke the band around those. I’m guessing it to be around 6-6.5 feet. When I take the bar out of the rack, its a good 6 inches before it even hits the band. The last 6 inches is where I seem to need alot of work, so I like to do that myself w/o the band helping me.

I fucking love this exercise.

I just realized I didn’t even answer the question you asked. What a dick. I haven’t really measured anything out, but I’m guessing it to be a little less than 3 feet… from where the band is choked to my chest.

Maybe… I could be wrong. I think my other answer gives a better idea of how its set up.

I don’t even know how high our rack is…maybe I’ll measure tomorrow if I remember.

doogie, can you floor press with your pec injury? It really overloads your triceps and front delts without working the chest much
