cold is broken and conditioning feels Much better I can breath.

Liked those speed DL?s did the bottom portion kind of like an oly Lift slowly going just below the knee exploded and pushed the hips through really concentrating on that as that?s where I seem to fall short then would lower the bar pause just below the knee and explode for rep two. These just felt better and better with each set.

Front squats went well added 20 lbs over last time. Prob should have went for more but don?t want to over do the DE day. Did have minor discomfort where the bar rested across the bum shoulder but not horrid

Second try at lunges pre smashed toes and went great. Bad thing is when my bad leg is the working leg that has the smashed toe foot in back little double whammy I let that leg be the limiter and these went great

Added load to the ab pyramid. And called it a day

Looking forward to see what tomorrow brings the first impromptu push day and shoulder rehab going in kind of blank slate and see what I can do.

I agree nice work.

Just got back from the first of hopefully not many Press/Shoulder rehab days almost embarressed to put it up very body builderesque but I will once I write the novel of what I did down. Who knows if it works and helps me fix this damn shoulder may help someone else.

again nice work Meat.

First day of this attempt to save the shoulder program. Not sure exactly what it will be consisting of I do know Ill be hitting a lot of shoulder rehab stuff to start figure 5-10 mins of ex. rotations, shoulder horns etc. then move to pressing what ever feels OK which will mainly be it seems decline stuff heavier and as the angle moves up get lighter as that?s where the shoulder begins to hurt. Going to be a ton of volume I expect with some slower tempo as needed keeping very tight and not pissing off the shoulder minimal rest. Then move to some shoulder work a bit for the front and lateral delts maybe traps and finish by smoking the heck out of my horrendous tris?s then have a week to heal from this.

Heres what turned up fella?s all this done in 1 hour 5 mins felt both like an idiot and it was a bit fun glad I was the only person in the gym Ill go ahead and put any note after each exercise as many seemed to require something different. Don?t think I left a thing out : ) and wont have to do this for a week.

Shoulder Rehab
Ex rotations and shoulder horns light and just do them 5mins
20 lbs for ex rotations, 10 lbs for shoulder horn both on cable machine tons

*** everything here on out at or no more than 60 seconds rest ***

Decline BB bench (work up to what I can and feel good) these were OK no pain but the heavier (lol) loads did Not feel 100% stable. And damn going with minimal rest lowered the loads a bit.
Bar x ton,
135 x 15,
225 x 8
275 x 4
315 x 1
225 x 10

Flat DB Bench
60 x 10,10,10
Note= had to slow it down a little nice and controlled but felt OK not super slow maybe 2/1/2

Incline DB bench
45 x 8,9,9
Note: had to slow way the hell down 4 second tempo and stay tight faster and the shoulder said no at this pace felt good and tight.

Dips
BW x 6,6,6
Note these went fine except damn tri?s were getting fatigued by now was impressed I got the three sets of 6 off at BW with minimal rest.

OH Press
25 x 12,9,9
WOW very slow even more so it seemed on the eccentric and man had to use a pitifull load but the shoulder felt better and better each set hella pump by now going on

Cable Front Raise
30 x 9,7,7
Felt good shoulders taxed for sure

Cable lat raise
20 x 7, 15lbs x 9,7
LOL had to drop these all the way down to 15 lbs again slow tempo keeping shoulder tight.

Decline DB tri extension
30 x 9
35 x 5,4

1 arm Press downs
35 x three sets to failure between 20 and 10

Machine Fly
75 x 20
105 x 17
120 x 15
Added these due to it seeming I had really smoked my tris but the shoulder seemed to have made my body not rely on the pecs they went OK I suppose don?t like this machine

Added a set of pullover and ended with light external rotations

LOL told you it was a hell of a list but seems to have worked the shoulder feels good felt good through much of the w/o. the loads and speeds I had to use were a friggin joke but hopefully will get better and hoping all the DB work will really help strengthen the stabilizers and shoulder girdle. We?ll see

Ill look to advance on this figure go heavyish on the decline since it feels ok and then do what I can.

Laugh if you must but damn it Im doing something LOL more than many can say. Very much looking forward to my ME lower day LOL

These are the only thing I’m iffy about doing. My should really doesn’t like the lateral raises anymore. I’m going to try the L version and see if that’ll take some of the stress off the joint.

Hope the shoulder heals up quickly.

Just came home from my State Benchpress Championships

Bodyweight 142.4
I did way to much to loose weight, but that’s the problem when you don’t have a scale at home.
After weigh In I only hat half an hoor to reload so that really sucked

241X - pause too short, but flew up
115X - bad handoff…
115 - did it

So I got state champion in the junior’s division -67.5kg/148lbs
I only had one contestant who did 236.5

I’ll post videos when I find the camera’s USB cable

have a nice day, now I’m gonna party each of the next 2 days

I hold my own. Thanks though… I’m a pretty good presser but you should have seen me doing the cleans. I’ve never been really fast at the cleans therefore I have to muscle up the bar. I’ve been doing a lot of the movements that have always given me trouble. Such as cleans and front squats. I’m getting better at the front squats but cleans still suck.
Oh well,

thanks for the encouragement.
good luck with the shoulder problems. It sounds like you are a true warrior. I don’t know if I could train like you with all the injuries you’ve had. I guess it’s like I tell people when they ask how I lift the poundages that I do- “It’s mostly ego and adrenaline”.

Keep it up. Your an inspiration.

Notes: First time doing any dynamic work in a month. Bench felt kinda slow, but not sure if maybe it was just psychological. Also felt like I had forgot how to bench with the bands, but I’ll get back to it soon enough I’m sure.

I’m definetly happy about the dumbell press PRs, but had a little bit of pain in my right shoulder later in the workout.

Everything felt good and strong.

Thats no lie man its largely mental for sure and over coming that block many time if you beleive it you can force your body to do it even if it doesnt really want to.

LOL thats where we have to watch out for damn sure but you must have that mentality as well its a fine line.

Thanks for the encouragement and no dounbt in my mind Ill be back 100% in no damn time.

Keep rollin all,

Thanks man as do I.

You may try it on cable The only way Ill really do them now keeps the load constant as compared to the DB’s where gravity and the arch plane of resistance changes the load. I also dont go damn heavy or explosive with these and prob dont do the near enough. One of the things Im putting in now more frequent to try and strenghten my shoulders.

well i havnt been following a “pl” routine so to speak, sorta but not really…ill make some post’s…but wanted to throw this out for you guys
Yesterday i witnessed a deleware Pl meet…a 275er named Nick something squatted 1060, benched 840, dl’d 715, just missed 730…pretty unreal

for you Phil:
so here’s a strongman review for the last couple months i’ve actually been training starting 4/30/06.
4/30/06
yoke walk-46050ft
farmers-225
10ft
keg load(couldnt get lightest stone)2105
10"log-160
4
conan’s wheel-365*1rev

8/5/06
10"log-2103 2302
farmers-265120ft
conans-570
94ft(1rev around another 1/4)
tire-6805 7002
stones-315
yoke walk-610*50ft

i guess this has been a pretty productive couple months of training, actually tained with the implements 10 times, and started lifting heavily seriously maybe the last 10 months, even though i have been lifting for 10 years.

You think its been productive??? Man thats hella progress in what 3 months 5 days nice work.

Id love to get into more strongman stuff trying to find ppl in the area havent found them as yet and Montana this time of year getting a bit chilly.

Yes its amazing when you start to really train for the first time. Had the same realization you think your training hard for years and well you were but you werent. there are for sure different levels. Its a clear change from hard, and HARD.

So what have the gym w/o’s looked like as of late for this?? The implemenet stuff looks sweet. You working with Ddog at all?? Where in the DC area did you find all the implements??

Keep it up man thats friggin awesome.
Thanks for sharing
Phill

gym work has been ok, but pretty much save the hard ME lifts for events days(sun.). ive been blogging them on my T-Nation, i’m not gonna copy all of them on here, but thanks for the response—and ya, DevilDog is getting pretty fing strong, he did a PL meet a few months ago, then i brought him to train events with me and he’s pretty hooked on that now…check out the nas site and look for your state chairman, they will hook you up…train hard–Gags

sweet glad to hear you all are training hard and having fun.

One step ahead of you think I looked for my state chair before I even moved here. 1 problem. we have no state chair LOL. Phill may have to bvecome one if I stick around here for a while.

Did find a new kick ass gym going to train their my ME days at least bit of a drive but worth the enviroment, equipment and PPL. The owner told me about a local guy who is or was into strongman and has all the implements etc…

We’ll see. Could always become a lumberjack plenty of that here in Montana.

Stay strong keep training hard and dont go and get to damn freaky.
