It all very simple. Here’s the secret…

If you want to be a whore, and I mean really really want it, not just want to talk about it with your friends, but truly want to commit to whoring around with complete disregard, here it is…

Any port in a storm will do.

You can’t be choosy here, you can’t always go home with the prom queen. Any chance you have to hit a PR, regardless of the exercise, regardless of how unglorious it may seem, take that chance.

Don’t worry about what your friends say, don’t worry about making up excuses…“She was really cute when the lights were out” or “I didn’t realize she was missing an arm until I woke up in the morning” or even “I did it because I was the wingman”…Oh shit, wrong story. Anyways, find a way to hit the PR, and if you definitely have more in you then take another, or take one for reps.

I know we all preach not to fail, but truthfully, you miss 100% of the PR’s you don’t attempt. Food for thought.

175x2,3
185x3 (PR reps)

Seated OHP

Lying Triceps Extensions
110 3x6

Notes:

Coming back on the inclines. 235 max on these before. should be able to get that next time…

First time doing push presses for real rather than out of frustration. Limiting factor here is midsection. Haven’t been working abs. Highest OHPs came while I was doing ab work. Need to get some wraps, too, to brace my skinny wrists.

This was a bunch of stuff. I’ll see how I feel tomorrow, but I think I’m going to want the day off.

I got my roommate to train with me today, he did good for not working out in 2 years and seems pumped to train again.
So we’ll see how it goes.

Modi, this just goes to show why you are the Heidi Fleiss of PR whores and the rest of us are like lot lizards hanging out at the Flying J truck stop doling out handies for $5.

Thanks Phill. All credit goes to Jamie Eason…

Any tips for the push press? Those were pretty interesting. Wish I’d done them sooner. Feels good to hoist something that weighs more than Brad Pitt over your head.

Yup good work Skid, Jamie Eason’s powers are magical.

As for the push press all I can say is push your head through! As soon as that thing clears the head start putting your head forward to lock it out. Also Sit back with your hips for the dip, instead of squatting down.

Yeah. Since you and Matt are making such good progress, I gotta follow you guys and do what works.

And Phill[/quote]

I think Phill’s user name has always been “Phill”? At least, if he had a different one, it was before I joined? I do remember you and Matt change your user name though so I’m just following the flow.

Squat
45x5
95x5
135x5
185x5
225x5
275x5
315x5
390x5 5lb PR

Prone Leg Curl
70x4x12 PR

Hanging Leg Raise
BWx4x13 PR

Quite pleased with this session. The squat was not only a 5lb PR, but that was the heaviest weight I have ever used for a multi-rep set.

Good job man, you’ve been making some good progress lately, I bet your 1RM is up big time when you test it.

Dang, does this mean I have to change my screen name to my real name too if I want to get strong like you guys?

Well you are already strong like us, maybe we just have to use our real names to keep up!

He wasn’t up when I left for work this morning (big surprise) but I am guessing his lower back is going to be real stiff, along with hips and legs, I also will guess he will somehow be “to busy” come Thursday for ME Upper. But I don’t have much faith in people as far as sticking to training goes…

ME Lower

A. Squat
135x10
165x8
185x6
205x4
225x3
245x2
Belt on
265x1
295xMISS
BElt off
285xmiss

Ok, well, this pretty much sucked. I decided to try and start using a belt but I think I may just got without from now on. 2 weeks ago I got 285 beltless though I think I was just barely parallel. Right now I think I’m just not staying tight enough. I get to about parallel and then I lose everything forward. I’m gonna start doing box squats to work on form and get be me through that parallel sticking point.

B. Defecit Deads
135x8
185x6
225x5
245x4
275x3(tied PR)
295x3(PR + 20)
225x10

C. 45 incline leg press
380x10
2x405x10

At least I got one PR in. I was pretty tired after this and disappointed with my squat. I think box squats and really focusing on form will help a lot though.
