Yeah, I was kind of in the gym for a long time. I just had a lot of stuff I wanted to get done. I definitely ‘greyed’ out. Luckily the pins were there. I was so close to lockout and the bar just stood there for a good 3 seconds before life got fuzzy.
I was so pissed that I didn’t lock out, that I was able to lock the second attempt.
I tried moving the pins down one position, but found it impossible to set up under…If I try them again in the lower position, I might have to take the weights off the standards, bring them down to the pins and stay set up for a few seconds, and then attempt the lockout. But I’m not sure I’d be any better off doing that. Board pressing is looking good for next week.
Yeah, you’re probably just better off sticking with the mid-level to higher end pins. Unless you really have an off-the-chest weakness, which it appears that you don’t, the higher pins are definitely the way to go unless you want a change of pace.
However, low-level pin presses can help to teach you to stay tight when the weight is on your chest; I’ll throw them in for a week or two if I feel this is becoming an issue.
You’re gonna love the boards, just not the “What are the boards for” question I’ve heard a few billion times.[/quote]
Fortunately I haven’t made any friends at the gym (all part of the master plan). Something about having my headphones in all the time, the pissed off look between sets, the pacing back and forth and doing exercises that most people have never seen before (such as deadlifts, squats to parallel, bench press where you actually touch your chest with the bar, etc.)
I doubt that adding boards will make anyone more likely to talk to me, or make me seem more approachable! lol. At least I hope not.
Looking forward to trying something new though. They should be fun.
