Tues. night concert - turned training
At 3:30 during a VERY MUGGY Oklahoma day, ppl in line were about to fall over from the heat. Several started walking to nearby bars and getting bottled water. My friend Karen ran for some water and it was awesome. I just poured about 1/2 of it over my head, down the back of my shirt and down the front of my shirt.
The gates opened at 5:30. By this time I was almost overheated. I’ve had heat exhaustion a couple times it seems to have broken my thermostat. I overheat way to easily now.
Anyway, by the time I made it through the gate and across the lot/field to the stage, I was ONE HOT PUPPY. The soil was very sandy and gripped my chair quite a bit. So going across the lot was basically a huge set of presses/dips. Then, had to sit in the sun by the stage for an hour. Having a Camelbak of ice water saved my ass. Also, I used standing ppl for shade. ![]()
The crowd was not bad for the first 2 bands. There were some moments of pretty strong pushing but it was just occasional. When Breaking Benjamin hit the stage, all 4,000 people started pushing to the front middle of the stage… ie ME.
This provided about 45 minutes of lockout work. My hands were on the front fence and I never locked out my arms but tried to keep arms from getting to 90 degrees. IF a shove came from the side, I was pressing with one arm and pulling with the other. I actually enjoyed the challenge and was glad to see I faired as well or better than others.
Several ppl, including my friend Karen, had all they could take and jumped over the front fence intot he loving arms of Meat and the other security guys. What sucked was I basically missed the whole Breaking Benjamin set since I was trying not to get crushed… they were the reason I was there too.
To know what the 4th and final show, Three Days Grace, looked like, just shove your face into a shower head and open your eyes.
Oklahoma thunderstorms can be crazy. When the rain drops are large enough to cause some pain… yeah… it’s serious.
So anyway, this does relate to gym time and its benefits. Now I’ve already admitted to being a nancy boy when it comes to the heat, but the rest went rather smoothly.
Before the show started some clouds blocked out the sun and once the heat was not a factor, I was fine. During the pushing and shoving of the concert, I didn’t get tired. Damn, I love the benefits of worki… uh… TRAINING.

second training session going solo. But the word has gotten around that I’m on the prowl. I had three guys come up to me tonight interested in training with me. I think I need to come up with an application. If I had one it would look something like this…
Do you workout or train?
How many years have you trained? for the smart ones… I just answered #1.
Have you ever passed out, puked or wanted to die during a training session? If no, there’s no need to continue wasting my time.
What does ME, DE, and RE short for?
Do you know what the maxipad solution is? this is an extra credit question.
Do you currently or have you ever done curls in the squat rack?
Which of the following best describes you? a) I want to get jacked just like Brad Pitt in Fightclub
b) I want to be strong like bull
c) I want to have functional strength…
Do you own a pair of weightlifting gloves, valeo belt(sorry 4est:), atomix shoes, or TMichael boat neck sweatshirt?
Have you ever uttered these words? “feel the burn”, “keep those buns tight”, Hey, buddy, do you need me to scrub your tant for you?"
What was the date of your last PR on the squat, bench and dead?
I think that pretty much covers it… oh… my training was exactly the same as last ME bench day. nothing special. I did some ballistic pushups though. I also did some wrist curls. I really felt the burn while keeping my buns tight and finished the training with a good thorough tant scrubbing.

HAHA good fun reminds me of when I saw Rob Zombie and Godsmack last year, I pretty much missed most of Rob Zombies set because two fat girls grabed onto my pants and started pulling each way, the button broke and they where baggy (which I never really wear) so the rest of the set I had to hold my pants up with one hand and fend off a bunch of dumbass’s from pushing me over with my other.
I finnaly got crafty and put the bottom button of my shirt through my pants button hole and than button my shirt on top of it, thankfully the shirt was a little long.
Good times

Sounds like an awesome show dude. When I saw Rage Against the Machine out in Cali it was absolutely nuts and when it really started going off, so many people were trying to get over the fence that security was overwhelmed. I wasn’t giving up my spot on the fence so I basically just took my strongest grip and let people climb over my back. It was the best trap and bicep workout I ever got!

Damn 4est, sounds like a good time.
I’ve been to a ton of those all day shows, and seen some great performances. Godsmack, Metallica, Rob Zombie, Sevendust, Linkin Park, Rage Against the Machine, Clutch, Disturbed, Korn, Static-X, Chevelle, Coal Chamber, Limp Bizkit, NIN, Pantera, Megadeth, Kid Rock, PM5K, Reveille, Staind…And a bunch that I definitely can’t remember.
Usually if a Pit opens up in front of us, my wife will give me a big shove in the back…“Go make someone fall down” she says with a shit eating grin. ![]()

This was the most worn out I’ve been from a training session in a long time. The ME box squat really took a lot out of me, which made the rest of the workout that much more challenging. It was my first time doing all of the exercises, so today is more to see what my maxes are. By the time I got to the Bulgarian squats, my legs were already jell-o and I really had to grind through those reps.
I love it!
I have a question about the no of maximum lifts above 90%. Is it too much to have four lifts about 90% ?. Current my max effort routine is like this
6 lifts at 15%
5 lifts at 30%
4 lifts at 50%
3 lifts at 65%
2 lifts at 80%
2 attempts at a personal record
1 attempt at 100%
1 attempt at 90%
And I rest 2 minutes between efforts above 90% ? Is the rest time too little or too much ?
