Fine. I won’t be sharing any of those ā€œFun with Dental Flossā€ pics then.

I think most people experience this. My best DL before my last meet was 500lbs and I pulled off a 1" mat (so I didn’t make too much noise at my gym!). The day of the meet, I was just hoping to pull 500 from the floor, but ended up hitting 525 on my last lift.
wow! thats a big increase from just adrenalin!
sorry about your gym.

4/6
Thought is was going to be a simulated meet day but it looks like Monday for that. Everything light today.

Had to practice getting air in my gut not chest. Hard.

    75 x 5
    75 x 5
    75 x 5

Need to work on gripping bar tighter. And that air in gut thing again…

  2. DB lat raise

  3. standing oh press DB
    15lb x alot x alot

  4. lying tri extension DB

was threatened to have a 45lb plate dropped on me if I couldn’t get to 25 on last set.

  6. cable press downs
    40lb x insane # x 3

  7. one arm pushups
    yea right.

Phill, it looks like they gave you the grand tour at the gym and prescribed the cardio circuit!(just kidding) Hey, whatever it takes to hold onto the strength while you heal up. You may even hit muscles in ways that haven’t been hit in a long time, you never know!
You can definitely tone up the ā€œfannyā€ on one of those butt blaster machines. I hear it really lifts and separates. Just don’t go out and buy a Valeo belt and wrist wrap/glove combo when ā€œhitting it heavyā€ on the assisted pullup/ dip machine.

Hey thx didnt even try the assisted dip/chin machine ill add that to my list smart ass

4/6/07- Friday- Bench Assistance

Light Band Pushdown- light ext rotation

A)Neutral Grip DB Bench
(70x5 80x3 90x3) 100x5 x5 x4

B1)3-Point DB Row
(105x4) 125x5 x5 x6 x5

B2)Neutral Grip Seated DB Shoulder Press
(45x5)65x5 70x6 x6 x6 x9

C1)Wide Grip Pullups (prone grip)
BW+25x7 x9 x7

C2)Standing Alt Twisting Curls
55x6 50x6

C3)Band Pushdowns
lightx25 x25 x25

Notes: DB presses felt weakish. Probably after not having done them for a while and doing DB floor presses instead.

Everything else was fine and dandy. I think I’ll have to up the weight on seated shoulder presses, it was pretty easy I gather after hitting the 70s for 9.

It’s looking more and more like I’ll be able to do the Push/Pull meet coming up.

I felt kind of bad for posting a smart-ass reply to this thread on the first page. I didn’t even mean to be disrespectful to the original poster, but the question struck me as funny (and a little tired).

4/5/07 DE Bench

A)DE Bench=135 + minis x 3 x 10 (three different grips). Removed the bands and worked up to a single at 285, which is just a little over 90%.

B)Flat DB Bench=110 x 12

C)Wide, Semi-Sup Pullup=BW x 6 x 4

D)Decline Close-Grip Bench=175 x 12 x 3

NOTES: Last week of the bands for a while. My elbows were aching after the bench work.

I like how I wrote who dumd and meant how dumb…yikes

anyways…I am off to hit the next circa max speed squat workout

04/06/07 - Deadlift (ME)

So I went to the gym last night and sat in the parking lot for about 5 minutes thinking about how tired my back still was from Tuesdays workout. Calories have been a little low this week because I was trying to lean out a little so I could go into my next meet gaining not cutting weight.

Recovery has definitely suffered, especially on big lifts. I knew in the back of my head that I would either have a shitty workout, or more likely injure something. Decided to live to fight another day.

Will make minor overhaul of program next cycle. Not that anyone here didn’t already know this, but 5x5 requires adequate food and recovery. Next week is the last week of 5x5 for a while, will bump calories back to normal.

Yeah, the adrenaline and the atmosphere really get you going at those meets.

I actually stopped worrying about the noise at the gym. It’s not like I’m letting the weights crash to the ground. I just get some funny looks when I’m the only person DL’ing or Squatting over 315. Hell, I’m probably the only one Deadlifting period!

Definitely do it if you can. The link is up on the website, so you can download the entry form. I guarantee you’ll love it!

04/07/07 - Bench (DE)

Back in the saddle, good day off yesterday.

A) Bench
225x3x8 (3 grips) good speed

B) Close grip bench
225x15!
225x12

C) Lateral delt raise
25x10x5 (60sec rest)

D) Barbell pullovers

+90x10

E) DB Biceps
40x10
50x10

50x8,40x8,30x8 (drop)

Thought I was going to get pinned on close grip bench on the 15th rep at 225! That would have been a little embarrassing…haha.

Bad ass training session today. Had a lot of down time though. That’s my fault for being a weak ass. There was 8 of us today. All real cool guys. Tommy and Blaine are good guys.

Sat 4/7/07
Speed squats
Circa max week 2 of 4
5x2 @475+blue+green band per side

afterwards, did one heavy set…did 565 in bar weight plus the blue and green per sidex1…smoked it up
so with the band tension was as little over 1000 at the top, so definitely a good sign that it felt easy…

Spud strap ab pulldowns
4x8

Banded lying leg curls 3x15 with light band

4x8 rev hyper with 400

great workout…

Two workouts to log:

Good to hear. Not the dog pooo part, though I can commiserate. But, you know, the arm.

I bet you’ll be surprised by how strong that arm will be once you get it out of the cast and stabilized from a few workouts, what with neurological carryovers and supercompensation from finally not being tortured by Mr. Volumeator.

4/6/2007 ME Lower

A)ME Box Squat (14")
Bar x some
135 x 3
185 x 3
225 x 3
275 x 3
315 x 1
365 x 1
405 x 1
420 x 1 x 3 (PR)

B)RDL=325 x 5 x 5 (PR)

C)Bulgarian Split Squat w/DB=55 x 8 x 2

NOTES: Man, the first two exercises went pretty good then I just ran the hell out of gas. 420 was my single-rep max off the box, so to get three singles with that w/o them being gut-busting tells me my squat is still on track and getting stronger.

RDLs were tough only because of how tired I got. I’m not in awesome shape, but I’m in good enough shape to last through anything I might need to do.

Not the case today–I barely willed myself to complete my second set of the split squats. Some dedicated conditioning might be in order. We’ll see how my next lower body w/o goes.

DE Squat

Box squat
185 x 2 x 8 sets
Worked up then
235 x 3
305 x 1
345 x 1 might have been a PR

Speed Pulls
325 x 1 x 5

Weighted abs

Glute Ham raises
4 x 10

That’s it
