I think most people experience this. My best DL before my last meet was 500lbs and I pulled off a 1" mat (so I didnāt make too much noise at my gym!). The day of the meet, I was just hoping to pull 500 from the floor, but ended up hitting 525 on my last lift.
wow! thats a big increase from just adrenalin!
sorry about your gym.

Thought is was going to be a simulated meet day but it looks like Monday for that. Everything light today.

Had to practice getting air in my gut not chest. Hard.
Bench
55 x 8
70 x 3
75 x 5
75 x 5
75 x 5

Phill, it looks like they gave you the grand tour at the gym and prescribed the cardio circuit!(just kidding) Hey, whatever it takes to hold onto the strength while you heal up. You may even hit muscles in ways that havenāt been hit in a long time, you never know!
lol
lets hop on the new muscle and preserve strenth if i can come back 85% ill ber happy
so they wanked the 3/4 cast pulled the stitches had me bend my arm pretty much near fully contracted and casted it up. SUCK!!! and said see ya in 4 more weeks man even harder to do daily crap now. but its a very fashionable black cast lol

You can definitely tone up the āfannyā on one of those butt blaster machines. I hear it really lifts and separates. Just donāt go out and buy a Valeo belt and wrist wrap/glove combo when āhitting it heavyā on the assisted pullup/ dip machine.
meat
Hey thx didnt even try the assisted dip/chin machine ill add that to my list smart ass
Notes: DB presses felt weakish. Probably after not having done them for a while and doing DB floor presses instead.
Everything else was fine and dandy. I think Iāll have to up the weight on seated shoulder presses, it was pretty easy I gather after hitting the 70s for 9.
Itās looking more and more like Iāll be able to do the Push/Pull meet coming up.
You just know when people still dont get it.
I felt kind of bad for posting a smart-ass reply to this thread on the first page. I didnāt even mean to be disrespectful to the original poster, but the question struck me as funny (and a little tired).
So I went to the gym last night and sat in the parking lot for about 5 minutes thinking about how tired my back still was from Tuesdays workout. Calories have been a little low this week because I was trying to lean out a little so I could go into my next meet gaining not cutting weight.
Recovery has definitely suffered, especially on big lifts. I knew in the back of my head that I would either have a shitty workout, or more likely injure something. Decided to live to fight another day.
Will make minor overhaul of program next cycle. Not that anyone here didnāt already know this, but 5x5 requires adequate food and recovery. Next week is the last week of 5x5 for a while, will bump calories back to normal.

Yeah, the adrenaline and the atmosphere really get you going at those meets.
I actually stopped worrying about the noise at the gym. Itās not like Iām letting the weights crash to the ground. I just get some funny looks when Iām the only person DLāing or Squatting over 315. Hell, Iām probably the only one Deadlifting period!

Definitely do it if you can. The link is up on the website, so you can download the entry form. I guarantee youāll love it!
Bad ass training session today. Had a lot of down time though. Thatās my fault for being a weak ass. There was 8 of us today. All real cool guys. Tommy and Blaine are good guys.
Sat 4/7/07
Speed squats
Circa max week 2 of 4
5x2 @475+blue+green band per side
afterwards, did one heavy setā¦did 565 in bar weight plus the blue and green per sidex1ā¦smoked it up
so with the band tension was as little over 1000 at the top, so definitely a good sign that it felt easyā¦
Ok w/o, i feel like crusty dog pooo. arm feels good though
Phill
Good to hear. Not the dog pooo part, though I can commiserate. But, you know, the arm.
I bet youāll be surprised by how strong that arm will be once you get it out of the cast and stabilized from a few workouts, what with neurological carryovers and supercompensation from finally not being tortured by Mr. Volumeator.
A)ME Box Squat (14")
Bar x some
135 x 3
185 x 3
225 x 3
275 x 3
315 x 1
365 x 1
405 x 1
420 x 1 x 3 (PR)
B)RDL=325 x 5 x 5 (PR)
C)Bulgarian Split Squat w/DB=55 x 8 x 2
NOTES: Man, the first two exercises went pretty good then I just ran the hell out of gas. 420 was my single-rep max off the box, so to get three singles with that w/o them being gut-busting tells me my squat is still on track and getting stronger.
RDLs were tough only because of how tired I got. Iām not in awesome shape, but Iām in good enough shape to last through anything I might need to do.
Not the case todayāI barely willed myself to complete my second set of the split squats. Some dedicated conditioning might be in order. Weāll see how my next lower body w/o goes.
