Ok guys, some updates…
I took last week off from training because I was due for a week off.
Went to the Arnold Classic fri, sat, sun
Things I learned:
I will never go to the arnold classic again. I have gone the past 5 years, and the last two have been miserable. There is talk of the WPO finals being moved to nationwide arena a few blocks away, which is what im hoping so I dont even have to go into the expo.
It is overfilled and has to be a fire hazard, not to mention there are an unspeakable amount of idiots and people who have no business at a fitness expo, simply because there is free stuff. I just have no interest in any of that I guess because once you truly know what works with supplements, there is no need for even free junk, and they arent giving away anything that I use, so there is no point.
The powerlifting meet was awesome. Andy Bolton broke the all time total record and is now 2810. He attempted a 1008 deadlift but was smoked from his other lifts. Vogelpohl bombed out, Greg Panora was very impressive, Evgen Yarymbash was extremely impressive.
Dondell Blue, Mike Cartinian, and Matt Kroczaleski put on a great show in the middleweights. Kutcher won the lightweights again, and his pull was only 694, which is 99 lbs under his pr…do the math and that is freakin scary. Also…I cant stand people who talk about things they dont understand.
Like when a raw powerlifter is in the crowd and is complaining to me about how much the guys on stage get out of their gear. Quit comparing equipped powerlifting to raw powerliftng, they are two different things that are impressive relative to themselves.
Pretty much if you dont compete in the sport, I dont give a shit what you have to say about what is going on onstage. That would be like me going to a strongman competition and talking about how when they clean a log, and it is with sloppy form (but they get it done), that it isnt fair and sucks. Well you cant exactly clean a strongman log like it is an olympic bar…
The funny thing is, the people who are always so versed in what is going on are usually:
not competitors
not strong (relative to their weight, age, and training age)
got their facts from a blog
This doesnt mean that if you dont squat 800 you cant critique my squat form. Its called credibility. I train with people that are nowhere close to my strength that are very good at helping me. I trust them because they:
compete
are strong
get their knowledge from doing it, fucking up, and then doing it a little better next time.
theres my rant…its just funny that the people that do knwo what they are talking about usually keep their mouths shut, or help you in a way that is helpful…
Heavy upper body workout tonight…
oh yeah and my meet got moved to another date, so now I am doing a national meet in Maine may 4th so I can qualify for worlds.
so I am 8 weeks out now…[/quote]
Great post, so true. Strong or experienced lifters will be pleased to help you , but you have to ask in the first place. They will not get over you to tell you HOW TO, they are too busy working on their stuff.
