Took me a while to figure out how to set these up. I wanted the bands to deload at the top so that meant I couldn’t hang them from the rack. So, I used the pins. Ultimately, I think (don’t know for sure…thoughts??) it is better if the bands deload a bit sooner (mid-thigh?) so next time I’ll lower the pins.
That sounds like a plan. Do you have different sets of bands with different tensions? I think my coach and I work with three different sets.
nice work overall. for the rev band dl’s the rule I have learned and gone by is you set the bands to be roughly eye level, that should make them deload appropriately.
gms look tight, also remember to alter foot placement, straight back/arched back, etc, very versitile assistance exercise, and then keep in rotation as ME every now and then.
didn’t feel good so you benched the next day? ha ha, can’t do that at Westside or in any crew situation.

I have a band set from EFS that maxes out at the Light band. I could combine the Light and the Minis for about 85lbs tension (or deload) at full stretch. Before too long I’ll likely get higher tension long and short bands.

Thanks Pete. I’ll lower the band height next time. I was doing some measurements (hang the bar in the bands, add weight and measure stretch distance), the reverse DL was 440 (floor), 465 (below knee), 475 (above knee), 495 (top). Hopefully, when I lower the band height the 495 will move to above the knee.
now that I’m getting comfortable with GMs I will definitely explore some of the variations.
ha, I definitely could have used some bald, scary fuckers screaming at me that day. I’m doing the kinder, gentler Westside - The Home Edition.

I’d buy the home edition. Solid program. Someone told me it makes you sexy(er).

Possibly related…
We were having a little party at our house yesterday for one my daughter’s friends. They were playing a game in the garage. From inside the house I heard a loud crash. No screaming so I figured there were no serious injuries but I went to check it out.
Turns out the stripper pole I had stored on a shelf had been pulled down somehow. It had been stored there for a loooong time.
First thing out of my wife’s mouth when I told her what happened…“We should put that thing up again.”

I’m getting some bloodwork done, mostly because I’m getting on in years, and I got them to add testosterone (and bioavailable T…don’t know the difference) to the list just for fun.
This should be interesting.

lol, love it…

Screw 5/3/1 time for some West Side action.
Good luck with your tests Git. Hope you pass, wait is that the right answer?

Thanks dday. I think the tests will be fine. Just looking under the hood.

If I’m not mistaken, and I usually am, bioavailable T is “Free T”. The T that is not bound up to SHBG and actually available for your body to use.
Looking at your progress, I would have a hard time believing that it is low…even if lower than you would like.

I haven’t been following the testo stuff much at all. In some ways it might be better that I don’t know what the number is but I’m curious given all the air time low-T gets on this site and elsewhere.
I’ve been nursing some sort of adductor / hip flexor issue over the past 2 weeks. I’ve been able to find a stretch that hits the area and have been doing upwards of 15 minutes in the position over the past few days. Seems to have really helped.
Box squats
225 x 2 x 8…vid of last set. 1st rep kinda sucked as the weight came forward on my feet. 2nd is better. Still favoring hip a bit so not quite sitting back as far as usual.
RDL / Stiff leg…I don’t know how to do a proper RDL. Not sure it matters.
225 x 3
315 x 3
405 x 3…PR for weight. vid
315 x 8
Pulldowns, Doubled Monster Minis
2 second pause on contraction
x 15
x 15
x 15 + 10 partials (dang)
wow, what an informative log, yes, in more ways than just lifting
GM’s are great, you really have a strong back, yes, just as it looks in the avi
a couple of ideas I’ve gotten…hanging the curl bar with bands for pulldowns, excellent
putting up the pole … wifey has the right idea
Your cage, can you tell me how you elevated the rack on the wood blocks? Is it stable, it sure looks like it doesn’t move when you’re lifting.

lovin the home gym vids as usual. Which STP you have coming? The new one? Let me know if that’s any good after you get to know it.
Hey DJS. It’s one of the older STPs that I don’t have…can’t recall which one at the moment. I didn’t even know they had a new one! I’m out of the loop. I’m ordering some stuff from Amazon for my brother’s b’day and I’ll add the new one and let you know.

Glad Westside is making is all sexy(er)!

Ha. I’m glad you were able to wade through all the silliness and find the lifting
On the band pulldowns, I really like the way the band tension builds at peak contraction. I just kneel on the floor and pull down to about chin level and hold it.
The blocks are secured so it is very stable. I originally did it because the cage wasn’t quite wide enough for when I was doing sumo pulls. Now, it makes it super simple to attach bands to the bottom. I’ll take a picture.
