Those front plate raises are so hard. I never understood why they feel so much harder than db raises…
Do you do these band pull apart thiniges that I keep reading about in everybody’s log? Should I buy some type of band or something? You seem like you know your shit so I am askin’ you, ha.
Luckis in Edmonton carries lots of jumpstretch bands. Go Mango carries Iron Woody. Both work great.
As for the owner of this log, lookin sharp, old man. You guys getting punished with storms or what?

Spock, lots of band options!
Kilt, I saw those DLs of yours. Pretty strong for an old guy
It’s been a strange winter out here. Mild, very little snow and no big storms this year (yet)
YEAH so I got two different kinds of band thingies. One is like a pull up assist band, but it’s a skinny version and I saw a guy on you tube using a huge ass thick version so I figured lil ol’ me could work with a skinny one…
STILL TOO HARD.
I also bought some pully tubey type band thingie and I can do that just fine, BUT boy oh boy, is it ever humbling. Who woulda thought some tubey shit could be so damn hard for my rear delts.
I am excited though, I really think this will help get them to activiate all the time!

Good for you getting new band thingies (chuckle). You can use them add resistance to lots of movements, whether a bar is involved or not.
Not just wimmenz…but smart, schmexy, hard-training wimmenz. My favourite kind.

you’ve sure got a way with words! swoon
nice KB swings. is this for project man-candy?
Every word is the truth. All you ladies deserve a pat on the bum…back, I meant back (no I didn’t)…for being so accomplished.
I suppose you could say the swings were for “project man-candy” (lol). Every day I’m doing something extra that helps my lifts (hopefully) or my candy quotient (hopefully).
Today, I spent a lot of time stretching hip flexors and hams and doing some glute activation stuff (discretely) while watching my son’s soccer practice. Hopefully, this translates to ME squats tomorrow.
Git, welcome to my world of feeling glute-tastic. KB Swings work every part of you yet the most amazing part is turning our man-cakes to buns of steel.

Thanks dday. That means a lot.
And don’t forget about my awesome man-cakes (Kairiki…WTF? haha)

What do you think of the band pull aparts?
I like them. I can feel some minor upper back and rear delt DOMS so at least I know I’m hittig the muscles.
But, after doing them both hi-rep and slow and controlled, I prefer the latter. The time under tension is similar with both but if I slow down I can better target muscles by changing position slightly and in the peak contraction I can mimic the upper back contraction used for bench.
Still a newb at this point. I’ll keep doing both versions.

This is interesting. I need to try them both ways now!
I just have a tubey thing that I am using right now (so weak) am I supposed to be bringing it so fat that the bandpart touches my chest, or should I be having way less range of motion and keep it all out in front?? If this makes any sense to anyone other than me…

You are doing it right. Keep your arms straight and bring them as far back as your range of motion allows. The tube will stretch across your chest.
When starting out, I think doing them more slowly is better so you can feel everything working. But do both ways.
You can do face pulls too, even with a single band / tube. Just do one arm at a time.
