Wow did’nt think I’d run into the dude that wrote the book 5-3-1 here sweet!! Hey Jim if your there I love the program just started it a month ago all major lifts are going up. I still can’t believe how simple and easy this program is. I have two questions
I do full body high intensity conditioning M-W-F bodyweight stuff like pull ups push ups, burpees, tire flips & jumps, some light weight high rep stuff its mainly cardio. Then I do JuiJitsu T & TH will this kind of activity mess up gains from 5/3/1?
Can I add a day for Arms and use a barbell curl for a 5/3/1 5th day?
It probably will - you have a lot of shit going on. I assume your main focus is “fitness” and not strength so as long as you understand that, you will be fine. Priorities tell a lot about a person as they do a training program.
Say i wanted to incorporate Snatches into my 5/3/1 (standard issue, no changes, Boring but Big Template), is there anywhere i could incorporate them? Either instead of a main lift, or as an assistance exercise (though something tells me they wouldn’t be a good assistance exercise)?

Do one of the pressing variations I mention in either the regular book or the PL book.

Use them/program them the same way you do would Power Cleans (as they are an Olympic lifting variation).
Hey, i’m sure this has been answered somewhere in all 42 pages, but during your deload week, what do you guys find works best for accessory lifts? Do you cut them out, or do it the same, just cut the weight, or keep them the same just don’t overdo the main lifts?
Jim,
I just wanted say thanks for the awesome program. I’ve had great results running 5/3/1 for the past 18 months. I’ve competed in my first 2 comps and won my division each time, set all-time PBs at a reduced bodyweight, broken into the overall raw top 10 rankings for Powerlifting Australia and am on the way to gaining an IPF elite II raw total at only my 3rd comp. I’m resetting all my programming soon to give 5/3/1 for PL a run and hope for even greater success in my comps.
Just one question, when is 5/3/1 for Ninjas coming out?

Book says to just cut the weight on them, so i’d go with that.

Do any of you do cardio on training days? Does it bring any negative consequences even if you have 1 meal between workout and the cardio?
I do conditioning right after my lifting, and it doesnt effect me too bad, a little bit more soreness in the legs. It may take a little while for your body to be able to handle it, so work it in gradually
How would you work in one arm dumbell presses into 5/3/1? Should I do them as 5/3/1 or as an accessory? I want to get to the circus type dumbbells eventually.
On my 2nd week and was just kind of curious if most people get around the same number of reps for each exercise on their 5+ set and on their 3+ set I got 10, 10, 11 and 11 on my 5+ sets and 8, 8, 8 and 9 on my 3+ set. Not that important just wondering.
