Wendler 531 for Senior Lifter

Is there a version of 531, youd recommend for a male over 60? Been training for 40 years. Presently, im doing bbb 3 month challenge
Thanks

Yes, there is a version in 531 For Powerlifting - called something with “gray pubes” in it. And there is also a plan in “Forever”.

How’s the BBB challenge going for you? If you can handle that, age is just a number for you my friend.

Based on the direction Jim is going, I’d say he’d recommend 5’s PRO and Walrus-style training. If you’re not familiar, Walrus training is doing push ups, pull ups, and squats (or suitable substitutions) in place of supplemental work.

Something like this for Bench press day:
Bench press, 5’s PRO (capping each set at 5).
Circuit, 5 rounds (wearing a weight vest, if you can): 20 push ups, 10 pull ups, 30 squats. Scale and substitute as needed.

I’d also recommend working on mobility and get in plenty of daily activity. Don’t sell yourself short because of age, but also realize your workouts are only as effective as your ability to recover from them.
