Funny quote of the day. You have won the internet mate.
Bit of a shitshow today. Should have known better to try to max out after 4 days straight in the gym. I have a bit of an imbalance in general in that my left shoulder is weaker than the right, and today it reared its ugly head, I could even feel it in the ramp up sets. The below includes a close failure at 85 where my left arm said NOPE FUCK YOU ASSHOLE. I did manage a cluster set of 10 at 70 kilo (10 long seconds in between the singles), fueled in part by anger and disappointment. I guess I need to bump the weight up in the cluster, if I understand the principle correctly, will try 72.5 next time.

Thatās a lot of work for a shit day man. Definitely prepping yourself for a good day.
Yeah, I mean the cluster was actually an improvement of 4 reps more reps since last time. But still was a bit of a let down. Oh well, I will try to be smarter next time.
Yeah, I hate it when I double my last efforts. Especially when I do it after already frying my nerves.
I figure at this point you know how my mind works. I dislike not meeting my own expectations. This felt like treading water. But thatās alright, I have ideas how to make it better.
You canāt be a true cantankerous old git unless youāre miserable even when things are great, itās important to commiserate your wins.
Finally, somebody who understands.
Really no business going to the gym for a fifth day in a row, but my 15 year-old is getting pretty into it and wanted to go. Bit worn out and tired, to be honest, I need a day off tomorrow. I figured I hadnāt been on the decline bench for a couple weeks, so may as well sleepwalk my way through an easy session.

The whole thing was pretty āmehā, but I will take it. That last one very nearly didnāt go up, it actually stopped about halfway through. Had the boy spotting just in case.
3 plate bench!
But technically only 308 pounds, as I am sure some wiseguy is soon going to point out.
And actually it was a FOUR plater. Two tens used instead of a twenty.
Why?
I once power cleaned 315 but it was with all the bumpers. The gym only had one set so it was 45s, 35s, 25s, 15s, 10s, and regular 5s. I still canāt technically say I cleaned three wheels.
Donāt repeat my mistakes.
Lol, it still counts, in my case and yours. Gym was busy, was running short on 20s at the moment.
Way to go putting some negatives on those positives!
Great work thatās definitely a real three plate bench (apart from the decline bit), screw the freedom units, the oppressor overlord units are where itās at
In all honesty, there was a dude on the flat bench at the same time I was on the decline. He is strong, and a good bencher as well. He was doing 135 for a couple of reps. With his wide grip, his arch and the not insignificant leg driveā¦the ROM he was using was definitely less than mine on the decline.
I have no argument with the idea that decline might not be a great chest builder compared to some other movements. Neither agree nor disagree. But the idea that it is somehow easier because of the ROM? Nope, I donāt buy it. If it is easier, it is because it is emphasizing different muscles.
A 7 plate dip would prove your point!
Consider it done.
It counts if they are all 5 kilo plates, right?
Of course.
Was googling 7 plate dip and came across an interesting site: strenghtlevel.com.
I think youād be elite+ on your pull ups.
I thought we talked about this?
140 kg is an easy bench? I would hate to see your hard sessions then ![]()
Good work!
