Weird, but impressive

Yeah, and why does pooing require such big quads? Just how long does it take you to poop?

I gotta change the name of my log, I think. The Corona Apocalypse is kinda on hold now that I can access the gym. Gotta think of something clever.

Today was geared at testing squat. Really did not know what to expect, because I have had to train with such low weights for three months, like sub 50%.

  • Barbell Squat

    • 20 kg x 5 reps
    • 30 kg x 5 reps
    • 40 kg x 5 reps
    • 60 kg x 3 reps
    • 70 kg x 3 reps
    • 80 kg x 3 reps
    • 90 kg x 2 reps
    • 100 kg x 2 reps
    • 110 kg x 2 reps
    • 120 kg x 2 reps
    • 130 kg x 1 reps
    • 60 kg x 20 reps
    • 60 kg x 18 reps
    • 60 kg x 16 reps
  • Muscle-Up

    • 2 reps
  • Pull-Up

    • 15 reps
    • 10 reps
  • Ab Wheel (standing)

    • 5 reps
    • 5 reps

Felt pretty good. I can’t remember exactly where I was three months ago, but I don’t feel I have lost much. Was a bit wobbly, but I am sure I can improve on all this given a few weeks. Finished off with a 353 at 60, which was pretty easy, further proving that Olympic bars are easier to move than my little shit bar at home.

Bench day tomorrow, wonder if that will be the true shitshow that brings me back down to earth.

Might I suggest “Bob’s Bitch Back at the gym”, as your new log title?

Well that would falsely depict me being his bitch, when in fact it is clearly the opposite.

I’m not sure about that, Bob’s still there standing, eyeballing you after all the punches and kicks you’ve thrown at him.

Don’t make me come over there and show you what kind of domestic abuse I am capable of dishing out!

Author’s note: I abhor domestic violence.

How did these move?

Have you considered “Giving Bob a killer blow”?

Ouch

That’s a 345 lb bench, 460 lb squat, and a 575 lb deadlift for me.

They moved
okay. When you haven’t moved something heavy in a while, it seems your body sorta forgets how to brace properly and the timing is messed up.

In any case, I am trying to figure out the lesson to take from all of this. I cannot deny that high volume with low weight worked way better than I thought it would during my lockdown. On top of that, it is obviously safer and seems to have had a positive aesthetic effect. Sooooooo
maybe I do not need to chase the heavy weights. I will probably push it up a bit, if for no reason than to take advantage of the sub-max gains that would lead to. In other words, maybe 530 sets are what I should continue to focus on.

Well, that is because you are tall and super fat.

For me the stand out thing from your log is the crazy high volume on very few exercises. And it obviously works for you. So I’m going to jokingly suggest Deep Water, while also thinking it might not be a terrible idea for you.

Yeah, it is pretty deliberate. I am kind of a purist, I don’t see much need for a lot of accessories and non-compound movements. So I try to get really good at the basics. It
mostly
works.

I dunno about the Deep Water, in part because I don’t know enough about it and what it should accomplish for me.

Easy way to find out either buy it and read it or ask @T3hPwnisher

Vids or it didn’t happen.

I genuinely think it’s pretty much what you’re looking for. Your “money” sets are 10 x 10 with ~56% of your 1RM. Rest times are manipulated to make it suck real bad.

I don’t see any reason to record what were generally shitty lifts. I already know they kinda sucked, just wanted to see if I could move them.

Maybe. The thing that worries me is that the only thing I have to compare it to is my one experience with German Volume Training. The idea was similar, though with fewer exercises (only the 4 basics, plus lat pulldowns) and much shorter rest. One minute rest between sets from day one. And it was always 10x10, never less than that.

Long story short, it gave me something which I can only label a minor nervous breakdown after 5 weeks, bad enough that I skipped the 6th and final week. Since then, I have avoided programs that call for strict rest periods.

Apples vs oranges, probably, but something of a psychological block I have.

Lots of ways vids of lifts can be useful. Good lifts bar lifts warm ups whatevs

Well I guess some people just hate fun.

Disclaimer time: I have no intention of running a full deep water program soon.

Deep water is a different kind of suck. It’s free on the website juggernaut training system.

If I hadn’t sworn to do Wendler for a year I might have dipped the toe.

BUT if you really want some sucking then go to Brian Alsruhes youtube channel and engage his DarkHorse program it really really sucks big time. When he lays it out and you see it on paper it looks kind of I can do it, but after 3 - 4 weeks it kicks in.

Yeah do Darkhorse.
