Exactly. There is a bias towards reporting all the exceptions. Not exactly scientific.
I felt fine. Got my second on 6/04, exactly 3 weeks, down to the minute, after my first. Took an ibuprofen (probably 200mg?) once every 4 hours starting immediately after my second shot and for 24 hours afterwards. I donāt know if that helped or not, I just wanted to be on top of anything that might happen. Felt a little tired at one point but I think it was also my first day out in the 100°F heat. That stuff sucks.
Iāve only talked to two people directly who have received the vaccination - my wife and a co-worker. Both were sidelined the next day with severe flu like symptoms. Most of my co-workers (myself included) havenāt taken the vaccination.
A lot of people who feel insecure about things, including getting a vaccine, seek guidance from strangers on Internet forums or from news headlines. Maybe they have no one in their circle ā not even n = 2 like your case ā who has experienced whatever they are debating. While I did not need reassurance from people I do or do not know to get the vaccine, in my experience I still find that the media skews this topic among many others negatively. I would not be surprised if that swayed people on the fence toward one direction over another.
Controls is more like it. I find it odd that last year I was told to wear a mask because I could be infected and not know it. That would allow me to spread it to others. Fair enough; I can understand that logic. But now we have a vaccine. You can still get Covid with the vaccine so nothing has changed. You could still be asymptomatic and spread it to others. But now itās okay to take off the masks if youāve been vaccinated. At this point, I pretty much ignore everything reported in the media.
Itās supposed to be about risk management. Your chance of getting Covid, and therefore spreading it, is significantly lower with the vaccine than without it. Therefore you donāt need a mask actually designed for the purposes of preventing viral infections to assist in managing the risk.
if you wanted to further lower your risk, then you should continue wearing a mask actually designed for the purposes of preventing viral infections after getting the vaccination. In fact, thatās what I recall the CDC recommending for months until they felt they had sufficient evidence that vaccination works as promised in real world conditions.
On regards to the whole āhow did I feel after getting vaccinated?ā
In my immediate family of 5, we all got Moderna and my mom was the only one who felt fatigued. However, she felt absolutely fine after getting the second shot and thatās supposed to be the one that really hit your immune system.
So, ya, I tend to think that itās akin to the placebo effect- you hear that it will cause fatigue and cold-like symptoms, so you exaggerate and do it to yourself once you feel the symptoms kick in.
My arm felt very sore after the first shot but, strangely, didnāt feel all that sore after the second one. Again, I attribute this to me knowing what to expect and so not being too bothered by it.
Iām not here to change your opinion on any vaccine. You seem confident in your choice to refuse the COVID-19 vaccine, and I see no point in my trying to convince you otherwise. I simply made those points because societyās relationship with technology fascinates me, and, despite its increasing relevance, remains unconsidered by many people (not pointing at anyone in particular).
I had this too, but no other effects.
Which we can all agree should be classified as a āvery seriousā side effect if is causes me to press one fewer rep today.
Harden up princess !
I had moderna vs pfizer, but running the Grace WOD proved to be an effective way to accelerate the recovery process.
Plus, like, I couldnāt raise my arm under my OWN power, but strapping into an axle and doing push presses allowed the momentum to carry my arm into place, so it was like rehab.
You guys should have more sympathy for me when I am making up my advance excuses for poor performance.
C1W2D4 - Press 531 BBB + Deadlift EMB
Felt fairly confident going in (despite my bitching), but started to feel a bit wobbly during warmups. Was well rested from a day off yesterday and plenty of food in the gut (too much, honestly), so no excuses. It still went okay, just sorta thought it would be better.
All additional sets for press and dead done with FSL weights. The former were tough, the latter I virtually sleepwalked through.

C1W3D2 - Bench 531 BBB + Squat EMB
Bit of a disaster today. Was supposed to get after 95 for at least 10 reps, but the decline bench was out of order. The bench part itself was literally gone. Horror. Had to improvise a bit and just did an incline workout, but not 531 because I didnāt know what weights to use. Still a decent little workout, just no AMRAP component. Also did my squats EMB sets with FSL weight, and that felt nicely in the groove.

Whatās EMB?
Itās my very own 531 variation. Boring But Big, Even More Boring. I add another BBB session on a second day of the week.
Active rest day. Some very easy pulling to keep the limbs from complaining too much, plus a slow mile run on the dreadmill.
